Ok, so I post some in the Canon forum, but this is too good to be try. I work for Wolf/Ritz in DFW and last night I got sent to product training with some vendors (canon, nikon, fuji, minolta, pentax).

I was invited to have some one on one time with the trainers due to the fact that i am one of the top sales guys in the metroplex and blah blah blah.

Anyways, Fuji. S5. Yes this is correct, they are devolping a S5 film digital film hybrid camera right now. Yes that is correct, right now.

Wow you might say, what is it. Let me explain.

Built on the S2 technology, they are working on building a digital slr that also accepts film.

How, why. Because they can darn it! Any who the low down on it is this 18 megapixel. WHAT! 18? YES.

You take the image digital. AND THEN YOU CAN TRANSFER TO FILM.

AHHHHH! Ok, im sorry im shouting, this just excites the heck out of me.

When might this concept camera be released. Not aleast for another year and a half, but it out there and it is very real, and people have seen it and touched it and used it.

More time would make me even happier.

Apparently you didn't see it, touch it or use it, correct?

I'm sure there are some folks who would find such a camera exciting. I'll get excited over the cheaper, simpler, lighter 18Mp DSLR without the hybrid stuff. When you see and touch one, let us know...

great news! then I still have to run to that photo shop around the corner, wait at least an hour until that film is developed, o sorry, I misunderstood, they deliver the S5 with a portable film development center, sorry. the cam spits out the developed pics, in what size you ever wish. and it comes with a built in coffee machine. well, now that its confirmed, I better wait for the Fuji Pro S9, o sorry, the Fuji Pro S12 must be it! well, I think Fuji can surprise us much better than Nate. dont want an S5. gimme an S3, and I'm blessfully happy.

Hi Nate - LOL, LOL ...

This is a good idea for a hot thread but I don´t know ... maybe it will get to 20 replys? w´ll see (This post is my contribute). Anyway, you have much better chances than posting a great pic taken with a S2 and lets admit, in a much easier way ... :-)

The idea of transfering the digital image to film is oustanding ! better than my idea of have a "grey calibrated" bag for reading a custom white balance...

regards,

This will not interest anyone. 35mm film is dead once you buy a camera as capable as a S2, let alone an 18mp camera. WHY would anyone use 35mm film when they have a S2 or greater?? I would rather have the 18 mp S3. Actually if they raised the S2 sensor to 10-12mp (20-24 interpolated) I would be in my happy place. NO FILM FOR ME PLEASE!

Sean

Although there's nothing of real substance in this rumor, it's an intriguing idea. Especially since the current S2 still has the space usually occupied by film in the N80 body unused and empty!

It is this kind of thing that makes me worry about companies in general. These high up people who get paid TONS of money make bird brained decisions like that?! WHY in the world would people not want digital cell phones? Did they think people LIKED the horrible reception that analog cells had?! Just amazing! These kinds of decisions get made all the time, that anyone with half a brain knows is just plain stupid.
