I’m going to call and complain. It’s like when I was little and my parents used to drag their feet out of bed on Christmas morning, make coffee, etc. while I’m waiting to tear into the presents.
It’s just not right.....
Just kidding about the calling and complaining, but I’m feeling the anticipation too. I ordered mine literally as fast as I could the moment they opened for preorders. I still probably have quite a few in front of me, but I have to think I’m in the first batch. But maybe not.

Damn I ordered like minutes after it was live at B&H so I wonder when mine will ship...I already bought lenses and need to test them in the first 30 days so I hope I get it quick!!!
If you preordered from a super popular and well-known retailer, you're almost certainly going to have to wait. We usually get our stuff from other authorized Sony retailers that have items in stock and no waiting lists.

Actually, the return policy was very important to me on this purchase, with it being a new model and all. Not that I anticipate returning it, but you never know. I’m not yet familiar with the return policies and customer service reputations of BuyDig or Beach Camera (although I’ve bought some accessories from Beach before). But it’s good to know for the future.

I pre-ordered mine like 6 hours after it was available for pre-order. I also bought an extended warranty which they associate to the serial number of the camera. Two or three days ago I was already charged for the warranty on my CC. So I assume they somehow filled out the warranty card with the serial number. So I'm hoping they ship mine on the 10th. And no doubt they are in stock already :-(

I wonder how long it takes the Sony factory to manufacture the A7III and what capacity they can manufacture per day/week...then how do they ship from the factory...Air or Sea.
So many variables involved and I wonder what the Sony forecast and production plan v actual demand is.

As the company basically shuts down over the holidays, I think its wise not to start the delivery process until there are staff there to handle questions and or problems that may occur related to delivery. I've personally had several UPS delivery problems recently, and some issues are just not correctable without the ability to get back to the shipper.

Its true - I was there a few hours ago and got to play with it - but I think its their only inshore demo model. Felt very nice anyway
They said they had a lot of pre-orders and another 'large store' I went to said they had over 700 pre-orders so far.
Go figure - but apparently Sony are pretty good on getting their stock out there.
I just ordered mine from Cameta Camera in Amityville, NY.
I'm #11 on the wait list.
Another smaller shop I called, Samy's, had 86 pre-orders. The guy at Samy's was quite helpful. He said they hadn't received anything and wouldn't know how many they would be getting until the 7th. They ordered 200, but he said they might get 12, they might get 50, they might get 25. He figured a conservative estimate might be May 10th before they clear an 86 camera pre-order.
I'm sure Amazon, B&H, and Adorama will get much larger pre-order shipments, but they also have comparably larger pre-order backlogs.

Yes, I actually just preordered from my local dealer only a few days ago. I'm number #3 on the list, and they should be getting a handful in for the first shipment. Also a good way to support the few remaining smaller retailers.

Yea but who wants to pay $150 in taxes??? I literally bought the 50mm f/1.8 for less than what taxes would have cost buying local or off Amazon.
You're right, I paid about $150 in tax. Mostly because I'm in a rush to get the A7iii in time for a project starting soon. My heart also goes out to my local camera shop, I guess you can call it a nostalgia tax.
So how is this possible when someone that ordered within minutes has confirmed his won’t be in the first batch? Something doesn’t sound right.
