Long time lurking but never started a thread here. I’ve been waiting for someone to start this but …

With the knowledge of the mind blowing FF A7RII and the new RX, what’s your expectation for the supposedly forthcoming A6000 upgrade? I mean all most desirable and useful new technologies are there at Sony’s disposal: BSI, 5 axle IBIS, faster hybrid AF, full sensor 4K, better EVF, super fast double layer sensor. How about everything A7RII + RX10II combined, except sensor size and MP count?

The problem is that the A6000 replacement could get too expensive to include all those great new features. On the other hand, your taste now gets lifted so high that you wouldn’t settle for anything less.

I’m as curious as excited. I can afford an A7RII, but wouldn’t if A7000 has all the latest and delivers 80% IQ of the big brother at half the price. I have Samsung’s NX50 in mind, but I change mind all the time.

We can speculate and be very dissapointed when one of our "Must haves" is not in the new camera.

Sony said that they want to go more for the higher end cameras, so it is very well possible that they will come with a camera that is more like a Nex 7 upgrade then an A6000 upgrade. When that is true that camera might look a bit like this;

magnesium alloy body, tri-navi, excelent 3mp EVF, 30 MP BSI APS sensor, Silent shutter,Fast 4-d AF system (fastest on the market), IBIS, maybe a 60-80MP sensor shift Hi-Res mode, Mic in, 4 K video etc.

But I can hear the professional complainers allready; The body got 4mm thicker and 2mm higher to put all these goodies in, it is not a real nex 7 upgrade, Start a campaign for a real Nex 7 small body upgrade etc...

At the moment I have an A6000 for fast bursting and reach, and I have an A7 for artsy stuff (I am a hobbyist anyway).

I believe Sony will launch the A6000ii or the A7000, whatever it is labelled, after six-month time.

This new Sony APS-C camera will sport most of the features found in the A7Rii>

The most important features are new BSI sensor with numerous PDAF points that fully works with A-mount lens via LA-EA3 and Canon glass via Meta Bone adaptor, and 5-axis image stabilization.

If it is true and it will work with SAL70400G and Sigma or Tamron 150600 decently, I will definitely buy it.

aha, I missed that. Thank you.

Just gone through that. It is half "hijacked" to whether there will be no more APS-C mirrorless from Sony.

I am about to buy the A6000 but holding out a bit longer for the successor announcement. I would love to see IBIS and 4K, but doubt we'll see the latter as 4k is still consider a high-end feature. IBIS on the other hand is a good possibility.

Yes, that what I mean.

I normally shoot fast moving subjects, bird in flight, demonstration that I don't direly need FF shallow DOF nor great tonality found in FF gears.

A6000 with SEL50F18 is decent for portrait, background blur and low light situation.

With A7 I use it to take picture of human beings or a few other stuffs that I think I need background blur and bokeh.

I never understand, nor do I care to, the big deal that people make about NEX7 that A6000 was not regarded its upgrade. They surely have different priorities.

To me, it's a no brainer that most new technologies found in the A7rii (and RX10ii) should trickle down to the A6000 upgrade, as they all have good values. It would only strengthen Sony's leading position in mirrorless segment. Sony must have spent big bugs in R&D to get to where they are today. It wouldn't make sense not to use them in their biggest selling product range to spread the R&D spending over.

Sony is obviously to let the no more APS-C successor "rumor" spread as they want to maximize the sales of the higher margin FF.

Now to imply that the "no more APS-C successor" is hardly a rumor or part of a conspiracy. It was mostly generated by me, as a product of being a Sony watcher and being on this forum for several years, now. You can blame me if you feel so disposed, but let's not get too carried away.
No, that's not what I mean. I mean, and should have said: Sony didn't bother to stop the rumour of no more APS-C successor from spreading.

To add to all that, people would still somehow be convinced that the "a7000" (or whatever it would be called) would be the last ever APS-C E-mount.

If they were to do an a6000 replacement, I'd like to see IBIS and the ability to quickly AF with the LA-EA3 and Metabones adapters. To save costs and place it below the "a7000", they could keep the same lower-res EVF, plastic/polycarbonate construction, the current sensor (no BSI), and exclude 4K.

And how exactly was Sony supposed to stop rumors from spreading? Also I was unaware of any rumors about "no more APS-C successor." Only discussions about this.
Making a statement? Leaking new APS-C camera info?

"Speculation" then, if you want to be semantic.

Will probably have 4k and a $1000 or more price tag.
