The D300 successor. We can only speak from personal need I guess?

I had my D300 for 2.5 years, till I ventured off into other areas. I had my D7000 for 7 days. The difference was that palpable. Purely personal preference, right? But how many others ended up leaving Nikon over this, or felt "pushed" by Nikon to a cheap D600 FF?

I left nikon. I saw this coming a LONG time ago.

I am not loyal to any brand. I just buy what I think is worth buying whether is pentax, fuji, canon, whatever.

I work really hard for my money and nikon is just NOT putting out something that interests me or excites me to buy another of their products. Specially the way they see their customers, THAT really turns me off.

Nikon just doesn't care and LISTEN. IMHO, The D7200 is a pure insult to the long time nikon shooter who HAVE been loyal to that brand. Personally, this D7200 release is going to have BAD consequences on nikon. I feel that in a way this is insulting compared to what other manufacturers are putting out there.

Based on what I have been seeing, nikon is only CATCHING UP to what everybody else already has. On top of that, they still are not implementing very important functions that we need now days. No focus peaking??? No touch screen??? For crying out loud, not even a flip screen????! More cross type AF points??? The K3 has almost doubled the cross types at -3EV.

Wow. Yes, I saw this coming a long time ago like I said. And you know what? There is NOT going to be a D400 either. You can continue waiting and dreaming on that puppy :-)

I've always said it, nikon is NOT the same company they used to be. You would have to fire a LOT of people out there and start from scratch to make things like they were doing before.

Is this what Universities are teaching our kids now days, not to listen to their customers? :-)

Unfortunately, Nikon appears oblivious that they're competing in a market that now has product dimensions where slow, incremental change just won't cut it. Gordon Laing best sums up it below (below is a link to his initial impressions):

"While Canon and Nikon pitch their various DSLRs at similar price points though, their mirrorless rivals feel no such constraints. Most notably Sony will give you a camera that costs roughly half that of the D7200, yet shoot twice as fast. Its A6000 happily shoots large bursts of 24 Megapixel images at 11fps. Like the EOS 70D and 7D Mark II, it also boasts great continuous AF for live view and movies, and Sony's Wifi implementation is the best around. It's pretty hard to beat for the money even if it's not as tough as the D7200."

hate Nikon.. or am I wrong.. you used a lot of capitals in there :)

They make some great cameras; just not what you want. That's ok.

:)

You and the contributor think that Sony have no constraints? You think they don't want to price their stuff the same as Nikon?

Of course they do.. it's a business. They are lower in the body pricing because they are not an established marque yet or, like Pentax have lost their market share. They have to compete on price. When they do get something that the Professionals use (not the odd few) or have a mass market appeal they will hike it all up and so they should.. from a marketing point of view.

all of the makers have 'something' that the others would like: innovation is great. You just have to choose the system that you have less to moan about :)

my 2 cents

On a Nikon forum...

You may not currently own any Nikon gear, but Nikon clearly effects your actions, your time, and apparently your emotions.

No need to continue announcing your displeasure - just leave...

Just my opinion...

Not the best of opinion.... '' just leave '' !

....we want to know is ''displeasure'' ;

this is a great opportunity to understand, to gather some info, to learn about his experience, which at the end, could benefit others ! I thought this was an environment to exchange impressions and ideas !!! Should there be no benefits.... we we will find out quickly ! No drama needed !

And yet you shoot cameras that cannot focus as well as the D7000? I really don't see your point. You left Nikon because you need better pro equipment and you ended up with a Fuji? Nice camera, but not in the same AF league as any nikon dslr.

Significantly less than those who went on and bought, any combination of the D7000, D7100, D800, D810's and D750, I would guess. The D7200 should pick off many of the rest.

And yet Nikon and Canon continue to actually make money. They are losing camera sales, but very little market share. Despite all the prognastications by DPR armchair quarterbacks, the game has not really changed.

Facts sure are pesky little devils.

By his own post, he had already "left"...
therefore , if he had already ''left ''

why to tell him to ''leave'' !

Not logical !

There are quite a few of us who "left" Nikon. And while C-AF is better with Nikon, there are a lot of body options that are much better in S-AF without worrying about front/back focus problems. They also actually have really nice native lens options as opposed to DX.

Michael Jackson still has the best selling album of all time; doesn't mean its good ;-)

Bingo! I suspect this is Nikon's strategy - unfortunately they appear to think that what'll be left of the "Pro-DX" seekers after the D7200 lures a bunch more of them is probably not worth worrying about (in terms of potential profits).

Nicholas.

ANY Nikon dslr? Pretty sure my XT-1 kicks the living daylights out of the D70s I had in 2005.

Careful with superlatives, you are almost always incorrect when you use 'em.

So what If I'm here. The OP asked who left.

There are no rules that say I can't come here just because I don't have a nikon camera. I still have some nikon lenses on my S5 by the way, as well as the SB600, and I always peak here frequently to see what's up. All of the sudden, yesterday I saw that nikon is coming out with the D7200. That was surprising to me, then I start looking at the specs and there is really nothing "new" in it. That's all.

I can buy another nikon camera ANY time I wish, there just isn't one for me at this point in time for that kind of money.

And I am not the only one that is not pleased with nikon by the way.

Its good to be angry, dissapointed, etc... Nikon its not giving us the tool we want and we are a long time users wainting for that big bulky weather sealed Dx body shooting at 9fps.

i hope Dpreview keeps asking d400 questions when they interview nikon.
