Whilst out and about for work in the Po Valley, I visited an area called the “Valle di Novellara” originally an area of swamps that since medieval times have been drained and the water managed. It is so level that one has the sensation of a landscape stretching out in a flat infinity.

The harsh Italian summer light was not too good so another dedicated visit is planned.

Male Pallas Cats - these are very timid and his mate had just given birth so we weren't allowed to linger near this enclosure.

Those could be pics of the Norfolk Broads - a very similar landscape.

The first is a fine shot and a change of direction for you.

A micro horror story.

I might have to visit this place. The last is lovely.

Love the Pallas cat. Looks Garfield-like to me rather than timid.

Sometimes the title makes the picture and without it it's nothing, the last is comical in context, without the title it is nowhere near as interesting - something I was going for with my first this week. It's an interesting concept - that the title is part of the photograph.

Haven't been out much lately but here's a few from an after dinner walk on one of the small beaches in Jamestown, RI.

Sunset as we were leaving.

...how to use a fisheye lens, that is. First attempts with new Samyang 7.5 when out walking the dog in our little local park this morning. Not really an obvious place to take a fisheye lens but I was itching to try it out between rain showers. It's built to a lovely standard, looks fab in silver on my GX7 (which in the end is all that matters :)) and I think I will enjoy learning how to use it. I've also decided that when using a fisheye lens, there's no need to under-process, so there's an excuse to have fun on the computer too!

The first three pics that don't have my fingers, feet or dog in unexpected places.... there is a heron in one of them if you want to try and spot it!

Nice - particularly the third.

Yeah - I recently bought one. People often talk about fun in photography and that is one of the lenses that facilitates it.

It looks like you're off to a good start, the second and third particularly. I spotted the heron in the third....eventually :-)

No 7 would be my pick, followed closely by 3 and 5.
