Video 5 up

If it has over 7fps, it will be qite popular and expensive. maybe more than $3500. Really looks great so far.
5.5 fps w/o grip is the rumor, and there's no rumor about a grip. 5.5 fps is actually a lot, if buffer is good. That's more important than maybe 6-7 fps. We have been so spoiled ...
I think we can be pretty certain there will be a grip - that is just the kind of accessory Nikon make a big margin on.

The silhouette looks like a K3!
A Pentax full frame when it arrives may look quite a lot like this - but will probably have IBIS and maybe better weather sealing.

Might that be an interchangeable finder I see? Looks a little like the F3.
It does look like it could be given the shape. Theres one close up shot of the prism but its out of focus, to me though it doesn't look like theres any kind of gap that might suggest a removable finder.
I hope not, just a good big OVF that makes MF possible again. Otherwise price could go through the roof.
If it has an interchangeable finder it will be far more of a digital F3 than a digital FM.

With all the controls it is looking that way anyway.

with a Toyota 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine, at least give me a 3.2 V6 or even better a 4.0 V8

Just to clarify I'm not talking about mps here

Any guess as to what that small dial is on top above the control wheel?

The exposure compensation is probably on the other side of the camera together with ISO

And what is that tab or lever sticking our of the shutter speed dial - which seems to have two tier rings ?

I am really excited about the prospects of the DF. Or was until Teaser #5. Now I have my doubts. It now seems like it is more like a standard DSLR, like a D800 with a manual shutter speed dial slapped on top. It has a retro shaped pentaprism and a shutter speed dial. Everything else looks like every other DSLR. Hardly exciting enough to shell out another $3000 for.

But I'll be patient and wait for the real specs on this camera next week. There's a lot we haven't been told yet about the inside of the camera. So I'm still hopeful. I've seen enough of the outside though to have my initial enthusiasm dampened.

"This is the last camera I'll ever buy." (Though that wasn't the first time I had said it)

And now this ... sigh.

You do not know if 1/4000 is for manual only. Some cameras in A or P mode go higher.
Who wants to use such beauty in P mode?
This camera is about 'pure photography' that should disclude the 'dummy' mode....

It certainly seems to have a lot of controls - Nikon just can't seem to resist.

i was more amaze at the Ads, all 5 ads are beautiful from videography to model and story/teaser.

The camera look FAT, i like it. 3K are very reasonable for it, they not gonna do all this ad to sell it for anything 2K or less, .....i might be wrong.

Just look closely at the videos and you'll see the target audience:

The man is alone in uncrowded places, offering surprising glimpses of beauty around him.

He is young, but old enough to have some wisdom. He is a man who doesn’t miss the subtle details.

He dresses simply, but cool. Elegant simplicity.

He travels light. Not burdened with conveniences or technology. Or obligations or messy relationships or complications. He is free.

It is quiet.

It’s just his camera and him.

This man is not me.

He is who I might have once been. Who I want to be.

That's who this camera is for.

Nice job! Very insightful and extremely well said! Thank you.

and that would be me!

For my hands and hanging glass, I really don't want any smaller.
Actually, more like the D300, the rear dials the same and the build looks to be strong, the D7100 looks a lot more dinky.

Top shutter speed dial ;-) just like old times...

The dial sorry to say looks and sounds 100% plastic to me. My F3HP has a metal dial with rubber grip and the digits on top are anodizied. As my Mk3. I think this can indicate a low price for the Df ;)

And you are absolutely right. The same holds true for computers, tablets, television sets, coffee makers etc.

Amateur photographer. Enjoy.....believe in yourself..
Although I notice the max speed on it is only 1/4000 of a sec rather than 1/8000, hint perhaps that its internals are closer to the D600 than the D800/D4?
Apart from the sensor (probably) if the rumors are correct aren't the internals exactly that of a D600 - minus the weather sealing, dual card slots, bigger battery, and flash?

Don't get me wrong, if it has an EVF especially some kind of a hybrid or an interchangeable OVF/EVF it's a winner. A split prism in the center just isn't going to cut it with modern fast lenses* - I thought that we had put the whole focus recompose debate to rest already?

(* I think that we have lenses that are far better at the wider apertures than ever before, we shoot at these apertures more, and view at larger sizes. In short, we expect better focus than what was considered acceptable before.)

are 2 things that dampen my enthusiasm so far

max speed is only 1/4000: how often speed max out on us using that 50mm f1.8 lens during the day?

Maybe it'll have a builtin ND filter? (A body with this caliber ought to have 1/8000 speed by now)

Size: it looks no smaller than the D600, which is quite thick and heavy , as compared to the A7 or even the FM

Could the large VF house the OVF + EVF?

Or Hybrid just refers to the shutter mechanism as reported in Chasseur D'Images

Will soon find out in a few days

Cheers ;-)

I think PASM is on the main SS dial. So this one could be the one for shooting modes as you say. But if S is the top dial, that means that S mode requires use of back dial for controlling SS, which is ok with me (I rarely use S mode, more M and A reserved for flash).

This camera looks wornderful IMO, if price for body is not over 3,000USD, it's going to be my next dslr (provided no issues arise, fingers crossed).
