Discontinued Minolta lenses you'd like to see be remade?

Which discontinued Minolta(or 3rd party one) would like to see be made again? I personally would like to see the 35-700mm f4 be made again; but, have a close minimal focus distance. Having it go to 85mm at the tele end doesn't hurt either.

500mm f8 AF reflex. Each one of Sony's new SLT technology features improves the capabilities of this lens: no moving mirror; no mechanical front shutter; lens-specific micro focus adjust. Without any modernisation on the A77 it's now a far more capable & useful lens. What's more it's the only auto focusing reflex ever made. Plus modern technology developments could improve its optical quality.

Definitely those two. 500mm mirror lenses made by the major lens manufacturers are really excellent for video (mine's an old 1980's Tamron SP 500mm), so an AF version should attrart quite a number of potential users. In the right hands I can see it's a good lens for birding too. They're going for just around £400 used on EBay at the moment. Tamrons about £130 so you can see the attraction of AF. It is the large 3" LCD and focus peaking that has made manual focus versions practical to use again.

I have the 28F2 and I concur. It's an awesome piece of glass.

They'd never remake the Big Beercan, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do if mine gets damaged beyond use. From yesterday:

Question: What do you do all week?
Answer: Mon to Fri. Nothing, Sat & Sun I rest!

The 58F1.2 in MF with a Sony Alpha mount would find a home with many enthusiasts. The question is how many. Would it be worth the while?

I sincerely hope it would, and that someone at Sony decides these kind of lenses would revive the brand to enthusiasts. The SLT's and NEX cameras are the best available for MF at present, and they should capitalize on this advantage.

Sadly, I fear my hope is in vain. :(

since if sony made them they would be high price how bout if tamron made the 300f4 or 400f4.5

These and I'll add some affordable and portable FF glass, all better IMO than Nikon's current offerings which you can buy new with the D600:

24mm f/2.8

35mm f/2

24-85mm f/3.5-4.5

All by yourself Ed, you make a good argument for the BBC. For years you have amazed me with the images you get with it. Do you feel though, that it offers something that the 70-300 G SSM doesn't? (besides being cheaper)

I don't know about the others, but being a birder, the 400/4.5 for sure! No doubt, the 500/4.0 is a lovely lens, but if Sony wanted to actually sell a lot of lenses, this one would make so much more sense. At $3000 they would sell like crazy. (I'm assuming)
