Why did you choice Canon?

They were very inspirational and love the Canon skintones. No amount of words can move me to Canon since I am a visual learner. So Paul, thanks again.

Cheers,

José
I choice it since they started out nice with nice AF lenses. Then the
digital era came and they had best products with best low noise and
AF capability. Sometimes miss the velvia time. But now got great low
noise time. Yeah, Indeed!

Why did you go with Canon?

Why did you go with Canon?

I went with Canon in the early 80s' because of their USM AF lenses even I was already a Nikon shooter at the time.

I didn't jump the Nikon ship because I am still in love with my old FM & FM2 and shoot film once in a while just for fun. but I got rid of my AE1 as soon as I picked up the EOS-630

Had an Oly 8080 that is a great little cam. Wanted a dsllr and Oly was a little behind the curve. Was set on going Pentax, no real interest in shooting long and mentioned that to a pro friend who said I should try his 20d for a while first. I did and really liked it, especially the lay out and what he called the "magic wheel "for ev comp. Have since started shooting long alot, just back from Africa with 4 bazillion tele shots to sort through. Now have a 20d, 30d and Mk II 2 so I think I made the right choice.

...you hear is the subtle humor going right over your head ;-)

It takes an astute and clever mind to appreciate the depth of me.

--I saw what the pros shot with and where they bought their gear. I'll ride on the shoulders of giants whenever possible.... the choice was simple.

-Fortune favors the bold-

...because the salesman said "the Nikon is out of stock" and 20 years
later, all the pro Nikon lenses are still "out of stock."
Exactly so. Coming from film, I wanted FF. I considered the Nikon D3 briefly, and some sexy-looking Nikon optics, but all of it "out of stock" or initially reserved for "registered pros" or whatever. On top of that, Canon's line of wonderful glass at a better price and with better availability was a huge factor for me. And finally, the unmatched 5D -- FF for the rest of us, and bridging the gap from film very nicely.

I'm very happy with my decision, 7 lenses and 2 cameras and a lot of accessories later :-)

Canon made cameras that fit my hands, the cameras felt more intuitive and they brought technology in to the photography world and SLR system when EOS line came out.

I had been shooting with advanced P&S ("bridge") cameras for several years and just got tired of noise and bad optics.

Canon had the lowest noise, best lens selection, and a FF upgrade path. Nikon had none of that at the time. So I went with Canon and got a 20D as a training camera. Then upgraded to a 5D.

If I had to make the same choice today Nikon is in a very good position. Canon still has better price.

namely: FPS count, AF speed and accuracy, high ISO quality of images and bokeh (only one that has 50 and 85/1.2 lenses).

Cheers,

it's really a shame he doesn't post here anymore.

Similar reasons started of with 300d (great little camera and revoluntionary to the lower end of the market) and progressed to 20d, 30d and 40d but upgrading my glass now to the F/4 short-mid focal range of glass - which unfortunately Nikon do not have. A few years time I may sell one of my 40d for the 5d Mk 2 but I do like Nikon too and will keep and expand that setup too adding the 24-70, 14-24 and maybe much later a D300 FF/D10.

When the 350D came out, I found a deal for 999$ with a 2 gig card, lowepro bag, and some tripod that I don't use anymore. That tipped the scale.

I remain for the f/4 L zooms and the 5D affordable full frame.

Hi Jose! Do you have any links to pics/galleries of Paul Pope?
Did he leave because of MkIII problems?
Thanks in advance.

Because I've only tried Earth-based models. There must be some life forms out there with superior autofocus technologies.

I guess I'll just have to take your word for it.
