Dag John,

Nice to hear you and thanks for the appreciation and your nice words. Editing is something I have to do daily for my clients, so I'm a bit used to it, but I always think that I could have done it better and more perfectly. Do you understand a bit of Dutch ?

Wonderful shots, all of them! I love the soft, rich quality of the
light! Great job! Kim

Dear Kim,

Thank you, I'm glad that you liked them. First I was afraid that the light would be ho hard and to white that day, but it turns out good on the later afternoon. I make a whole lot of pictures in the 2 hours that I was there and also have some very nice pictures of other animals, I will maybe post some later or put them certainly in my planned gallery. The light in the other pictures was also very soft, I always hope and pay attention at the light quality, I even enjoy it without a camera.

Hi Dirk,

Very nice images, all three of them. I think it is very difficult to get these bird shots and don't spend much time trying to get any. The birds in NYC are always nervous and hang out in the tops of the trees anyway. I would not try a bird feeder in my backyard due to the large number of cats in the neighborhood.

Hi Dirk, All of these shots are exceptional. Colors are vibrant and of course well composed. Thanks so much for the view for DL.

I've got one and even a piece of his left eye, you can see it here:

No I'm kidding, I had two hours and go to Planckendael and would
make some birdshots for you as a tribute to your fantastic
birdpostings on this forum that I always love. Here are 2 more of
them (the last is a tribute to you, The one in the middle)

Dear Birdleader,

I'm glad that you appreciate them. I'm also glad that you can take
your pictures in such relaxed conditions, that must be superb,
that's something I miss in my life, I never had time to relax, I'm
always occupied with tenthousand things and has so much to do (my
to do lists are many pages long) and I'm spending to much time the
last weeks at photography, preparing my webgallerie, sorting out
pictures, react on this forum, I'm gonna have big problems with my
clients, it's time to calm down. When I would take that first
picture my batteries were running low and I could'nt press the
button anymore, I tried very fast with setting my camera on and
off, and hope that it just would work for one more picture, and I
was lucky, I also have to focus manually because this bird was in a
cage.
Today I make my first picture of a flower, I take that one in the
park 2 hours ago. This are things caused by what I see on this
forum and what people said in their reactions, and I like it but it
will eat more of my time to try all these different things.
PS: I think I'm to occupied with different things here, as I am
reacting in a complete chaos order to the post on this.
With kind regards,

Hello Steve,

I'm glad that you liked it, I really would make that shot, and I was nervous because my batteries run low and I could'nt press the button on my camera, I switched it on and off a few times (very fast) and try again, I also had to focus manually because the bird was in a cage and oops I was lucky I just could make that shot before the bird moved to much. Yesterday it was a nice weather here and I make a few new bird shots a bit in the style of shades of colour. And I also made my first flowerpicture in my life. I will post it one of these, it's Francis Toussaint who made some superb flower pictures last week, who pushed me a bit to try it.

With kind regards,--Dirk Vermeirre

Did you invent the S1?

Hi Miel,

Thanks for your interesting comment. I always had a strong interest for colors and their impact on humans. I find this fascinating specialy because colors don't exist in science but we can see them. No I did'nt invent it, I am curious about what the S2 will bring us and also the D100 from Nikon.

Greetings,--Dirk Vermeirre

Hi Stan,

Thank you Stan for your appreciation, I think I will make more birdshots in the future, I made some yesterday (a bit unusual shots I think but I like them very much). It was not difficult to get these shots as the birds where in a kind of zoo and the light was good that afternoon, I was there for about 1,5 hour and make a lot of shots that I like very much, of different animals (I will put the in my planned gallery one of these). A pitty that NYC don't offer you the possibility to make great birdshot but I think that it offers you a huge range of other subjects.

With kind regards,

Hi Dirk,

I enjoyed all three.

But the last one is just a master piece.

And as always I do mean what I write, it's one of th efinest birdshots I have ever seen,

Dirk,

Gorgeous images...great color in the first, lovely detail in the second, and a very memorable composition in the third. You are using your S1 in very creative ways, and I'm enjoying the results a lot.
