Finally Received my Bob Krist Bag Today...

Nice Mike. I'm expecting mine by the end of the week! But for day ski jaunts, I'm thinking of getting the LowePro Toploader which I can carry on my chest for easy access.

The LowePro is a great bag, when all you need is the body and lens attached. I use it all the time. I have ordered the Bob Krist bag for when I need to carry more.

I also own a LowePro Toploader that is great for what you describe. And, I ordered the Bob Krist bag for when I need to carry more, too. I now own about 7 different bags and I mix and match according to my immediate needs. I'm thinking this new bag will get used lots more than the others, however. We'll see.

Hi, JCDoss. There is a thread out there (fairly recent) discussing this bag in great detail. One of the posters took time and trouble to post a series of photographs of this bag and it is very comprehensive. I just timed-out on a couple of search tries to find the thread for you so I guess you're on your own. If you don't find it by next time I get into the forum, I'll try to find it for you again. It's the thread that convinced me to go for this particular bag. Take care.

Looks like it's everything everyone said it was. Big enough to
hold all I need to carry, including D30 w/grip and several lenses.
Looks classy, too.

Hi Mike,

I ordered mine from Bean on Thurs of last week....

how long did it take for yours to arrive?

...and I'll definately look at the toploader, thanks to the posts here.

Thanx,
Scotty B.

Peter Sills I think had one but was not sure if the D30 with grip attached would fit as he did not have one. Does the D30 with grip fit with lens mounted and lens inserted down into bag? (vertical configuration with camera on top).

Mike:

Would you be kind enough to post the interior and exterior dimensions? I, too, am on a seemingly endless "bag quest"! :-)

Thanks......... Jack Winberg

Darn! I have bags that have never been used, and almost always revert back to an oldie but goodie. But I keep trying. This thread, and the pictures (thanks to all who provide the info) caused me to order one of the Bob Krist bags.

Wll it never end? Will the perfect bag ever show up? meanwhile, I'll keep saving pennies for bags, they're cheaper than "L"enses ;)!

Can anyone answer the question about whether the D30 will fit in this bag with the battery grip attached? This seems to be the shortcoming of many bags, namely that the D30 does not fit well with the grip attached to the camera body. If this bag accomodates both it would truly be a very attractive alternative. I look forward to your answers.

Ive been looking for a good bag for awhile as I have outgrown the
one I currently have. After reading the threads about this bag I
have decided to order one as well. I had it shipped second day so
maybe Ill have it by the weekend.

People have confirmed that it works well with the grip attached.

Here is the link to the previous thread. Don't know why, but it does not show up in the search.

Here is also a list of what I currently carry in mine:

D30
100-400mm
24-85mm
50mm f/1.4
16-35mm
550EX Flash
Charger and Cables
6+ Filters and Expodisc
Extra Batteries, and CF Cards (4-5 in cases)
Misc. cleaners, pens, cloths, etc.
and room for at least another lens.

Enjoy!

John - me wonders if you know what the "(NT)" means in the subject line of my posting. It stands for "No Text" which means that there is no reason to open my posting as there is no message (the message being totally contained in the subject line). By leaving the "NT" in your posting you are telling people that there is no reason to read your message. Does that make sense?
