From the Conclusion:

"As far as the competition is concerned, I can state with a very clear conscience that the Pentax K100D is the camera that will offer the most bang for the buck for quite some time when compared to the cameras that are just entering the market or will do so shortly."

Nice to see pics of Ljubjlana too - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

I saw this in the review:

"The Pentax AF adapter enables autofocus with legacy manual focus Pentax lenses. At the same time, it functions as a 1.7 teleconverter."

I see no mention of this adapter on the Pentax site or elsewhere. Is this available? If so, where?

.a button to select metering

.pentaprism with 0,95x magnification

.shiftable program

But where can we get something closer to perfection for such a bargain?

He mentioned that the camera needs quite a bit of contrast when focusing. Is this because of the lens? Are most entry level dslr cameras like this?

It is discontinued. It was available in some markets at least until a couple of years ago. It was released in 1987 with the F series of cameras and is a 1,7X teleconverter that (auto)focuses.

wow what a good review, if only Pentax could sell themselves this good.

The review says, "The Pentax K100D employs the classic SLR shape. The grip is very protruded and covered in rubber, offering firm grip."

I have large hands and find that the Canon Rebel series of DSLRs very uncomfortable to hold and use. Can anyone comment on the size or feel difference between the Rebels and the K100D?

Thanks.

Thanks for pointing this out...the most comprehensive English review to date.

The most interesting thing about this review to me is the set of SR examples. The examples with the leaf show a case where SR at a lower-speed outperforms a non-SR photo that's shot at a speed higher than the usual 1/focal length rule. SR's ability to outdo someone's hand-holding skills is highly photographer-dependent of course, but if Pentax's SR system can help me in the way shown in the example, that would be incredible...can't wait to try it out!

The Canon is a bit smaller and more uncomfortable to hold. The K100 is a lot more comfortable and the rubber grip adds to great feel.

As hinted at in the review, the little bugger is officially named F 1.7x AF Adapter.

There is one drawback to it: While it is enabling AF with manual lenses, it is disabling the built in AF with modern AF lenes. An AF lens is acting like a MF lens. You need to manually prefocus it to be in the adapter's limited focus range. That makes it less desirable as a teleconverter for AF lenses.
