You did not say what camera you have,If you have a minolta I would wait as they are about to release a new camera in september its a Konica Minolta AF DT Zoom 18-200 mm F3.5 to 6.3 (D).sigma d lens will not fit minolta mount.

First off, I have the 70-200 APO, fantastic lense (portrait-sharp at 2.8 (slight softness) and world-class above 3.5 (Gives Any equivolent Canon L, Minolta G or Nikon Aspher a run for its money)... a nice fast, professional lens...

Oh... and it works fantastic on the 7D... the only thing I miss is an ultrasonic-style motor.

Now... did you really just recommend that this gentleman forgo professional-grade fast, constant-aperature glass for a (pathetically) slow, consumer super-zoom?

Now, please don't let me sound too down on superzooms, I know they have their place... but you must understand that someone who is looking at f2.8 constant-aperature glass is probably not cross-shopping for a 300 dollar saturday-night special... Different priorities at work here.

(FWIW, I also own the 2x Sigma teleconverter... A useful addition with a few strong caveats-

1- AS is nonfunctional (well, worse - it actually is disruptive - the 2x TC doesn't report its existance... I think this makes AS actually mis-compinsate and make motion-blur worse)
2- AF is SLOW .

3- Unaccpetable image quality below f8-f11 (f5.6-f8 indicated - again, the 2x TC doesn't report its existance to the camera.
4- Unreliable metering (I shoot in M)...

Why with that long list of caveats do I still consider the 2x useful?

Because used within its envelope, it pulls off some amazing stuff:-P

Thanks for comments. Yeah I am looking for nice grade lense and after browsing a lot I have decided to buy this sigma lense as it will deliver nice pictures.
Currently I have 28-75/2.8, 135/2.8, 70-210/4 and 50/1.7.

And as I said above I am looking for a nice lense to replace my 70-210/4 to get even better results.

What? Are you out of your mind...an 18-200 will be full of compromises and will not compare with the Sig 70-200.

I have the Sigma EX 70-200 DG APO, and it fits perfectly on my D7D.

Not really too sure if trevor knows what he is talking about.

Poulson,

have you got any examples of shots taken with your 70-200mm DG lense, you may be able to post on here. Also is there anything plus or minus points you have picked up about the lense, e.g. Sharpness under f4, and do these change at different focal ranges.
Cheers
Tripper
