What do you all think of the new cameras? Let us know in the comments.
Excellent video. The end also said it all, the quality from the GH5 shot at the end was much better than the rest with the Canon. Grab a new GH5 off the bay for $1200, much better video camera than either of these Canon's. And for the same price point!
A picky point: in the APS-C world IBIS is far from the norm. The just-announced a6600 is only the third APS-C camera model with IBIS, after the a6500 and X-H1. All three of those cameras are priced considerably above the 90D and M6-II.
Doug probably meant APS-C mirrorless but regardless he was addressing the fact that the dpreview TV claims IBIS is becoming the norm and it isn't. Any arguing against doug makes it sounds like you are arguing against that statement which was simply false or wishful thinking.....
Well keeponkeepingon sounds like you're so deep into forum warring that you can't read a simple statement with info without assuming some strange conspiracy. Get some rest.
this actually looks nice camera for general (and pro in same cases) shooting and video. that let say sony ff lenses are even bigger than dslr ones, so in the end, you got same size/weight of your gear.
You can see the lag in the M6II by the action shot's of the racing cars , the cars are not centred in the frame, the nose of the car is a lot closer towards the side of the frame , on the 90d the tail of the car is closer to the side of the frame or the car is centred. You need to use slightly looser framing when using mirrorless to be able crop the rear end of the photo. with tight framing you can end up with the nose of a car being cut off and space around the rear.
I think it's kinda cool how they put pretty much the exact same guts into both a mirrorless and DSLR body so you can take your pick based on how you like to shoot. And also what lens ecosystem you're already invested into.
That is what Olympus did with E-M1 and unreleased E-7, that would have been last 4/3 body to released).
They build the same camera but other was the mirrorless and other DSLR, and that as time when E-M5 was to come out in couple years (this is 2009-2010 or so) and they tested which one to put on market or both. What Olympus found out was that the mirrorless (E-M1) was better than the DSLR (E-7) and that was the moment when they started designing E-M1 II (this in 2010) and decided to leave the 4/3 bodies behind because they could instead holding 4/3 system a live from 2013 to 2016, they moved 100% to the mirrorless and produced their top lines until 2017 when they stopped those productions.
Canon has not that luxury, as their business is still EF lenses and EF bodies with EF-S bodies. And now they have two incompatible mounts, RF and EF-M, what will make huge problem in the future. They have driven EF-M to separate own system, unlike what EF-S was. Why 90D can be more future proof.
@Tommi, this is why if your at the point of thinking you need to adapt lenses, why not go to a better Sony camera. I think this is why people are going to Sony now. Canon and even Nikon made a big miss step on this transition. Too bad Olympus marketing is horrible. Would have loved to see more people buy into M43rds.
That's why some folks such as Fro like the M6II but recommend not buying EF-M lenses.
> of thinking you need to adapt lenses, why not go to a better Sony camera.
Because these days the Sony APS-C cameras are arguably not better at everything, and a $40 adapter that makes EF lenses behave as native is hardly enough of a reason to change entire systems.
Carey's promising on-screen debut the other week wasn't a fluke - he killed it again in this video. Great interplay between Carey and Chris as well. Levi did a great job behind the camera too. You guys have developed quite a deep bench of video talent.
OK, the EOS 90D mkII has a 32.5 mp sensor. And surely the Sony A6700 which will also be announced shortly, will surely also have 32.5 mp. But will the Sony have 4K video? And then there's the M6 MkII, but it lacks a mike jack. And where are the M lenses? It's a new race!
The old Sony cameras already habe better video. Worse IQ in the uncropped modes indicates that Canon isn't using downscaling and therefore doesn't use all the benefits of the full sensor.
