This week, Chris and Jordan highlight six episodes of DPReview TV that got lost in the news cycle. Discover a few great videos you may have missed, including some of their personal favorites. We've included links below so you can watch them.
From my experience, it seems many creators think that the more effort they put into a video the more watched it will be. It does not seem to work that way, though. How interesting a topic is to an audience does not seem to correlate with the amount of work put into making a video about it. Just an observation.
I enjoyed "The mirrorless party 2018" when it came out and again today. I am hoping that there will be a sequel one day —ideally, not exclusive to 'full frame' cameras as there are plenty of puns and jokes to be made from the first-to-market mirrorless companies. "Recreating bad product photography" was also a fun episode to watch and hope for a sequel at some point.
I did not know about the "A Walk Down to Water" short movie and its behind-the-scenes episode. I need to check them out.
I would like to echo other people's comments & say thank you for your hard work & bonhommie. Especially in the last 18 months, every week, I have looked forward to watching your videos. Your videos are both informative, good natured & very well made. A pleasure to watch. Thank you.
I watched 2 of these when they first came out (the natural light portrait one and the "A Walk Down to Water" behind the scenes.) After watching the other 4 today, I made the right call initially.
The other 2 of Chris's picks just didn't do anything for me and were kind of kitschy. For Jordan's picks, the Wooden Nickels suffered from trying to be a product review and a behind the scenes at the same time, and as a result struggled with both. Similarly, the Ninja V vs. Blackmagic Video assist suffered in being a product comparison because the antagonistic format made it feel like dueling ads rather than a balanced comparison review.
Now, what I want to see is a horror movie dramatization of Chris's foot injury. THAT I would watch.
I only missed the one from 2018. And that's only because i didn't know about DPReview TV back then, I swear! I'll catch up I promise! Oh the shame.... ...
But seriously, guys, your work has kept me sane through the lockdowns and all that pandemic jazz. You're like the Top Gear (or Grand Tour these days) of photography. Except you have a much tighter release schedule ;)
In the end, it doesn't matter if I have a budget for new gear or not. I'll watch your reviews anyway, just for the fun of it :) And Chris, Jordan, thank you for that.
Every Wednesday and every Saturday I am looking out for your new videos. There is always something to learn or think about or laugh about in them. Thank you for your great infotainment! What you guys present always is presented very professionally and yet is so much down to earth and considering real world problems! Just go on, I love it!
I appreciate this reminder of some of your missed videos. I've seen most of them but not all of them. The 2018 mirrorless party was great and I also enjoyed the bad product photography. It's been a fun ride with you guys on DPR TV.
Yes, I only missed the tell a better story through cinematography episode, wich I will watch now. All the mentioned episodes where greate, espacially the Blackmagic Video Assist vs. Atomos Ninja V episode followed by the eternal sunshine one.
I will continue to watch everything you release. Good work!
All DPReviewTV episodes are great episodes! You have excellent onscreen chemistry and your passion really shows through in the content. I also feel like Chris is the most consistently-interesting sample photographer.
In the future, it would be great to see more technique videos mixed in with the review content. E.g. walking through your thought processes when setting up video shots, picking stills locations, etc. Get nerdy with us!
