The National Press Photographers' Association (NPPA) has announced its winners for the best in video photojournalism in 2017, as well as announcing finalists for Editor of the Year, Station of the Year and more. Anne Herbst's video above, winner in the 'Spot News' category, depicts the beginning of protests near the Dakota Access Pipeline construction site. The pipeline skirts the boundary of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, with the final portion needing to be installed in a part of the Missouri River Watershed, which is the tribe's drinking water source.
