PMA 2011 trade show cancelled
The PMA has cancelled its 2011 trade show and convention. The show, which was re-branded as CliQ 2011 earlier this year, had been scheduled for September 6-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, a move away from its traditional spring timing. The show will instead take place alongside the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas as PMA@CES in January next year. The move is likely to give increased importance to the PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo in late October.
PMA 2011 rebranded as CliQ 2011
PMA has launched a new community website, and rebranded its tradeshow as CliQ 2011. Scheduled for September 6-11 this year, the tradeshow will be held in Las Vegas. The website aims to provide tools and content for photographers and videographers. Readers can subscribe to this service for an annual price of $25 (which includes entry to the expo).
PMA 2011 opens doors and falls into step with holiday season
Trade body PMA has announced its show will move to September in 2011 and be open to the public for the first time. Traditionally held in the first quarter of the year, the show is being moved to fit with product release and buying periods, following a quiet 2010 show. Its spring scheduling brought it into competition with the CES electronics show (which Canon chose to attend in preference in 2010), which will be avoided with its September 8-10 2011 slot. A September date in 2012 would risk overlapping with the larger Photokina show in Europe, however. For the first time, the show will officially open its doors to members of the public, with enthusiasts able to attend on Saturday September 10th.
