DxO is bringing its OpticsPro software to Apple's consumer-friendly Photos software for OSX. This $10 extension for Photos gives users full access to all of DxO's Optics Modules, which can correct optical distortion and aberrations as well as improving dynamic range and removing haze from landscapes. Also introduced is a free plug-in for users of DxO's ONE camera, which offers the same features mentioned above and supports the camera's SuperRAW files. Read more.

The DxO ONE is a 20MP camera with a 32mm equivalent F1.8 lens, which is designed to be used in combination with an Apple iPhone. As well as being DxO's first foray into photographic hardware, it's also - arguably - the first truly 'connected' camera, being designed to physically connect with a smartphone, rather than relying on a wireless connection. DxO's latest update to its Optics Pro software, version 10.1, brings compatibility with several new camera models including the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, PowerShot G7 X and GoPro Hero4. DxO has taken the wraps off OpticsPro 10, the latest software version that brings with it, among other things, DxO ClearView for correcting atmospheric haze. DxO Labs has released version 9.5 of its DxO Optics Pro software. This new release adds a non-destructive workflow that is completely integrated within Lightroom. It allows users to transfer Raw images from Lightroom cataloguer to DxO Optics Pro, process them, and then return them to Lightroom in Adobe's open DNG format. Learn more

DxO Labs has released version 9.1.4 of its DxO Optics Pro software. Both the Elite and Standard versions gain support for the Sony A5000, Leica X Vario and GoPro Hero 3+ Black edition. The Elite version also gives support for the Nikon D4s. The update also adds 170 lens and cameras combinations to its library, with a list of over 18,000 combinations now available. DxO Labs has released version 2 of its distortion-correction software Viewpoint. Designed to correct for perspective distortions such as converging verticals, Viewpoint can now also use DxO Optics Modules to correct for the lens's barrel or pincushion distortion. It can work both as standalone software and as a plug-in, which is now compatible with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Apple Aperture (as well as Adobe Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5). DxO Labs has updated its distortion-correction software Viewpoint to version 1.2.1, meaning it's now compatible with Adobe Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5. Viewpoint works both as standalone software and as a plug-in, and is designed to correct for perspective distortions such as converging verticals, and to restore more natural proportions to objects at the edge of the frame when shooting with wideangle lenses. DxOMark has been busy testing lenses for the Sony NEX system, and has just published an article detailing which lenses score best on the NEX-7. As part of our ongoing collaboration, we've added the test data for most of Sony's own E-mount primes to our lens widget, which you can use to assess their performance and compare them against each other.
