One of 2020's many, many surprises has been the emergence of the Zeiss ZX1, a full-frame, fixed lens compact first announced in late 2018. Not only is it the optical company's first-ever camera, it's also built on Android with the ability to run Lightroom CC. At long last, this unusual camera has made its official debut and we've got our first batch of samples to share.

More than two years after first showing off the camera, the Zeiss ZX1 is here. It features a 37.4MP full-frame sensor, a Zeiss Distagon 35mm F2 T* lens and has a variation of Android built-in that's capable of running Lightroom Mobile for editing your images directly in-camera.
Zeiss Senior Product Manager Elliot Shih sat down with us at CP+ to talk about the company's first camera to launch in more than a decade.
The Zeiss ZX1 was one of the great surprises of Photokina 2018: a full-frame, Android-based compact with a 35mm F2 lens. We got a chance to play with a pre-production example at CP+ and found something unlike any particular camera we've encountered before.
