@jaberg: No, in my language "fine" means "fine". And of my bikes (three; six or so frames hanging in the garage, all steel of course) only one has a quill stem, a Nitto (couldn't find a TTT one at the time).

it takes time for adobe to include new models in ACR updates. xraw studio needs the camera to be connected. I downloaded a couple and ported in rawtherapee just fine, ISO 10000 looks like a mess at a pixel level (DSCF0144 flowers shot). ISO2500 (bar shot DSCF0002) is OK but colour noise suppression is not what I would call outstanding. Ill take a look at other shots but unfortunately, I cannot post images/ crops on comments

I'd agree that there isn't enough selling of Tokyo as a traveler's destination in this review. Where's the ramen?

Get off a plane in a city you don't know and you have a day and a half (one of which is raining) to get a gallery while your body is screaming at you to sleep. That's not really the recipe for capturing the personality of a city. Much less someone else's perception of its personality. I did what I could.

First let me state that I'm not being personal or demeaning. The observations were more technical than anything. It was actually two separate points.

The first main one is me not understanding how these photos help with a review. I've been around this site for a little while and noticed the style of images for these reviews is generally intended to be what the average every man would take pictures of.

I get the logic but it doesn't help me as an experienced photographer to see what the camera is capable of. Basically I think the cameras should be pushed further in these galleries to see what it's really capable of.

It just so happens that this is Tokyo and it's impossible to miss the variety of visuals available in the city. Yes you guys run this website but this is not the first comment that was stressing that these galleries could be more intentional about the subject matter since it's about testing equipment at the end of the day.

I'm sensing some self-defeating butt-hurt there...but why? Tokyo is not a secret..get a ticket and go enjoy it. What exactly am I bragging about? That's just silly. I spent the last few weeks actively encouraging my peers (fashion week) to GO to Tokyo asap.

My comment was a question of intent (well, and results) of the gallery considering the location is so well known and visual, colorful, etc. Don't get me wrong there are some nice pics in there. Again, the question was about the galleries intent. Times change, and maybe the purpose of the gallery could be re-imagined. Maybe.

So..chill out. I am super happy I can go there when I feel like it (humblebrag) and have a network there. But you can do the same (if you haven't already).

Grown adults using the phrase 'butt-hurt'..... christ.

The problem why you are getting so much hate is because you are just complaining, learn that positive criticism is about saying why something is bad and how you think you could improve things. "there's just so much to shoot", "the signage, the angles, the textures" for example gives no information on what you want him to shoot, it's just generic I want a better shot but I don't want to help you out on what sort of shots were missing. Don't be so brief with your examples so we can all learn, of course if you don't want to share then it's best to avoid being dismissive, as it'll be hard to defend yourself.

That was two different discussions that erupted from my original comments.

The first was my criticism which ended with a question - how do experienced shooters use the galleries (by intent).

The second, nonsensical back and forth was regarding accusations of me being "conceited". That was totally useless an dilutes MY intent, ie. the gallery usage as a part of a review question.

I've used TDP's iq charts for 14 years now, especially as sharpness/clarity was the priority for me with lenses. They've been super helpful. I don't usually view DP galleries because of the 'average usage' approach to the images is not something helpful to me. Every now an then there is a really good gallery, but I'm sort of trained not to bother. That is not an insult.

It just was coincidental that a portion of the gallery is of a place I'm intimately familiar with, so I was VERY interested to see what came out of it, even for inspiration.

That's all there is to it. No harm no foul.

that was the super CCD. xtrans has other issues and squeezing 40 mp in such a tiny space and generating files as large as 80 MB does not resolve them - what does -4 NR mean anyway? why not simply NR off like most normal cameras.

If I'd had known it was coming to the X-S20, I'd have held off from selling it. My understanding was that sims don't get delivered to previous models via firmware.

Ok, you should find Reala versions of most of those in the gallery, immediately next to the originals, to make comparison easier.

You are the best, Richard. Right away, #10 and the windsurfer showed me what I'd hoped for - the Reala profile may be the closest available to getting Kodacolor straight out of a digital camera. I want to experiment with this both in heif and raw, but I'll wait for an X-E5 (Fujifilm just confirmed that this line hasn't been abandoned) or maybe spring for an X-T5. Will have a closer look at all the new images now. Thanks!

Or the Fuji XE4 with the pancake 27mm lens - it is small as X100!

The Z 40/2 is also over a stop faster by equivalence, that's part of what holds me back from ever looking at a fixed FL compact like this with a smaller sensor, even tho with IBIS they've now added everything I could want in one... I'll either carry it on a strap by itself or in a small bag, same way I'd carry a FF body with a small f1.8 or f2.5 prime that's still faster than the f3 equivalent on the Fuji.

Plus if I'm carrying a small bag I can still cram a second small prime in there (eg Z/E 28/24 f2.8) and I'll always get plenty of use out of that vs just 35mm, while having even more cropping and post processing leeway with the FF sensor. If weight is a concern tho, the X100 will be nearly 200g lighter than any FF ILC + the lightest of primes combo. The latter will likely have a good edge in AF tho, so there's that.
