Samsung Galaxy S5 camera review
In our low light studio tests the Samsung Galaxy S5 opts for a relatively high ISO 1250 to achieve a slightly brighter exposure than some of the competition but thanks to a well-balanced approach to noise reduction edge detail is still very well maintained. At such high sensitivities fine low-contrast detail suffers noticeably but but can still more than keep up with the competition.
There is visible grain in the image but it's not blurred into unsightly 'blotches' by noise reduction and overall the S5 output looks cleaner and more artifact-free than most of the competition's low-light samples. Color is also maintained well and chroma noise is very well controlled. Downsizing the Samsung images for web-use and social sharing will average noise out further and make even images shot at the highest sensitivities usable.
