Image Quality Compared: Flash Portrait

We set this basic portrait shot up in low artificial light, provided by a single tungsten bulb - roughly equivalent to low indoor lighting. The Samsung Galaxy S3's LED-flash does a decent job at illuminating the scene depite keeping the sensitivity at its minimum ISO 80 setting. This results in a relatively detailed and noise-free image but the camera app's auto white balance mode noticeably struggles with the flash/tungsten mixed light situation, producing a distinctive cool cast. We're not to keen on the HTC's and iPhone's very warm rendering of the scene either but certainly prefer it to the the S3's blue tint.

The Nokia 808 has delivered the most accurate color. It's camera also features a proper xenon flash unit of the sort found on most conventional cameras - the extra power is obvious from its far superior evenness of coverage, and balanced, neutral color rendition.
