Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 Review

Studio scene comparison (RAW)
This is our standard studio scene comparison shot taken from exactly the same tripod position. Lighting: daylight simulation, >98% CRI. Crops are 100%. Ambient temperature was approximately 22°C (~72°F). Camera settings as per previous pages.
Please not that for this comparison we converted the E-620's RAW files in Capture One. This is because we were given reason to believe Adobe Camera Raw's handling of files from the latest generation of Olympus DSLRs was not fully optimized.
Panasonic DMC-GH1 (RAW) vs. Olympus E-620 (RAW)
Panasonic DMC-GH1 (RAW - ACR) |
Olympus E-620 (RAW - Capture One)

  |
3.7MB JPEG (4000 x 3000) |
4.8 MB JPEG (4032 x 3024) |
  |
Despite the fact that Olympus has reduced the strength of its low pass filters on the latest generation of DSLRs the GH1 still pulls visibly more detail out if its RAW files than the E-620 but, as mentioned above, we are comparing files here that have been created by two different RAW converters. Therefore we can only make a final judgment once Adobe ACR fully supports the E-620.
