Full Menus
The T's menu takes a little bit of getting used to: the camera doesn't have a four-way controller, so everything is controlled by touch alone. This, in turn, means that you don't get a conventional scrolling list of menu items, but instead a long grid of tiles, with nine on-screen at any time. The net result is a camera that behaves very much like a smartphone or tablet, but with a refreshingly pared-down interface.
The menu is accessed by pressing the Camera icon on the right of the screen, which first
enters the user-customizable quick menu. Tapping the Toolbox icon top left then enters the full menu. To exit, there's a decidedly Android-esque 'Back' button; alternatively just tap the shutter button.
The initial quick menu is easily customized; tapping an on-screen '+' button allows you to add any of the main menu items to the list. To delete an option which you don't use, press and hold its on-screen button for a couple of seconds; a trash can icon then will appear in the right side, and dragging the on-screen button over it will remove the item from the menu.

The T's menu is presented as a long series of tiles, with 9 shown on-screen at any given time (in a 3x3 grid). It's remarkably simple for a modern camera, with 42 items in total. |

Menu items work in two distinctly different ways. For those which have relatively few options, tapping the tile cycles through them. |

Items with more options, or sub-options, open up into more conventional-looking lists. Selections often (but not always) have to be confirmed by pressing the on-screen 'SET' button. |
Leica hasn't entirely re-invented the wheel, of course; most of the options on offer are carried over from its X-series cameras. What is has done, though, is make a generally-successful transition from a conventional button-driven menu system to one that works almost entirely by touch.
