The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 is a high-end enthusiast compact camera with a 20MP 1" CMOS sensor, a Zeiss-branded 28-100mm equivalent F1.8-4.9 lens, and 1080p video capture that all fits into a jacket pocket.
"It's hard to think of another that includes so much capability and yet still fits in your pocket."
The 1" sensor is twice as large as the Fujifilm X20's, and 2.7 times larger than most enthusiast-level compact cameras, such as the Canon 'S' series. It can't compete with the image quality of DSLRs or large sensor mirrorless cameras, but for its size, the RX100 delivers impressive results that capture lots of detail with solid ISO performance.
The RX100's aluminum body is solid and it handles in much the same way as other typical high-end compacts. It doesn't go overboard with manual controls, but has a lens-encircling control dial and customizable function menu that make it a useful for photo enthusiasts looking for more control.
Overall, the RX100 is a flexible and dependable tool that lets you take as much or as little control as you want. It's not a perfect camera, but it's hard to think of another that includes so much capability and yet still fits in your pocket.
