Record mode display (Auto/Scene/Movie modes)

An example of Auto record mode, the only settings which can be changed in this mode are image size / quality, ISO, color, flash, focus mode and drive mode. An example of Scene Program mode, use the up and down arrows to select the type of scene (mode dial is a little confusing as it looks as though you can select these modes directly from the dial).
Example of movie record mode, 320x240 size at 30 fps with audio, limited only by storage space (camera indicates enough space on this card for 3 min 21 sec of video).

Record mode display (P/A/S/M modes)

Here, an example of information overlay in one of the manual record modes. Note that the shake symbol is displayed to indicate that this image may suffer from blur if hand held at this shutter speed / zoom. Note that the exposure compensation bar only appears if some compensation is dialled in. Press the up / down arrows to shift the program exposure. Press display to toggle view modes [example].

Information overlaid: Macro focus, 6mp, 80 frames remaining, ISO 200, Program AE mode, 1/60 sec, F3.2, +0.7 EV exposure comp.

Half-press the shutter release and the camera attempts to lock auto focus and takes the final AE reading (as you can see it has changed from the estimated 1/60 sec to 1/58 sec). The camera also indicates the AF area (if in Multi AF mode). After fully depressing the shutter release the camera briefly displays a 'record review' image, this can be disabled or set to ask if you wish to store each image. It would be useful to have a shortcut button to cancel an image even in this mode.
Example of manual focus mode, hold down the +/- button and press wide/tele to change the focus point. Example of manual exposure mode, note the exposure meter displayed at the bottom of the screen, this represents the difference between the selected exposure and the metered exposure.
Example of an overlaid menu, in this case the new Photo mode menu which allows you to select image size / quality, sensitivity and color Hold down the drive button to change drive mode, as you can see it overlays a small pop-up menu for drive mode selection, use the left and right arrows to select.

Play mode display

Switching to play mode immediately displays the last image taken. The default display mode contains overlaid information; folder name - file number, date & time. Press DISP to switch to a 'clean' view with no overlaid information.
Press DISP again to switch to a 3x3 thumbnail index view.

Press the zoom controller to tele to magnify the displayed image, you can magnify up to 18x for a 6mp image or 13x for a 3mp image. I found the magnification process to be quite slow and frustrating (holding the tele button it takes six seconds to reach full magnification).

Press and hold the left or right arrow for more than a second and you enter a fast review mode which displays a bar chart indicator and quickly scrolls through images taken.
