Canon EOS 5D Mark II In-depth Review
Base / Tripod Mount
|The tripod mount retains its position (in line with both the center of the lens and focal plane of the sensor. A rubber cover normally protects the connector that can be used for communicating with the optional WFT-E4/E4A wireless grip.|
Accessory shoe / external flash
|The EOS 5D Mark II's accessory shoe can be used with Canon and third party flash units (sync only). The hot shoe supports E-TTL II metering which uses distance information from the lens to calculate flash power. This works with all Canon lenses (although distance information is only provided by lenses with ring type USM motors). You'll note also the new weather seal surround which works in conjunction with the newer 580EX II Speedlite.|
The EOS 5D Mark II has a standard metal EF lens mount, because it has a full-frame sensor it can't support EF-S lenses which are designed to work with APS size sensors (and hence produce a smaller imaging circle). Because of its full-frame sensor, a 50 mm lens on the Mark II produces the same field of view as it would on a 35 mm film camera, there is no 'field of view crop'.
