Anyone have any experience with these two lenses? Which one do you like better and why? Related question - I have a Tamron 28-75mm for situations where zooms are easier to use, but I I like shooting primes when I can. I have a Sony 24mm 1.4 and Sony 85mm 1.8 so I'd like to have a prime lens in the normal/range. I've tried the Sony 55mm but felt that to be too tight for a walkaround lens. Anyway, my main question is - do any of you feel like you gain enough from the Batis or Samyang IQ and...

Hi everyone, I've been gazing at buying my first camera, after doing a bunch of projects off rented material. The Sony A7iii is the chosen one, as I find myself doing equal amounts of photo and video. The "worst" part about it is: the sheer volume of lenses you can choose from, under a limited budget. I am somewhat open to anything, but after using Zeiss glass with Canon cameras I am gravitating toward their Batis series. On the other end, I'm frightened that being locked to a prime as an...

Hi everyone - I got a pretty tough dilemma here and I'd love to get your input. I am about to get the A7 III, and I can't make up my mind as of which Prime to get as my single, all-around lens: the Sony 55m f/1.8 or Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2? My photography types by descending order of priority/occurrence Kids portraits / photography Family portraits /events photography Street photography Landscape photography Semi-macro is something I want to try out, either with the 40mm or 55mm with macro...

The Dpreview website states Batis has Min focus 0.02, but I got the lens and it doesn't have that close focus. The minimal focus  I have is 0.24 and not 0.02.

Hello guys, I would like to try macro photography but I completely newbie in this field. I would like to know about your personal experience and thoughts. First I am looking for a lens for Sony a7III. I'm considering: Sony 90 2.8 Macro all looks cool but I worrying about not circular bokeh that someone reported and something that bothers me :) Sigma 70 Art looks cool too but focus distance is significantly smaller, and noisy AF that may spook wild insects. Canon 100 2.8L I already have an...

Has anyone had any experience with these two lenses?  I'm wondering about the difference in IQ/sharpness and color rendering.  I know the Voigt is MF but I'm okay with that if IQ and color is better than the Batis, especially considering the price for the Voigt is $250 less. I currently own a Canon 35mm IS that I adapt on an a7iii, so also wondering if I'll experience an IQ and color upgrade if I go to the Voigt or Batis.  I suspect not a lot of people have adapted that lens so not expecting...

I pre-ordered at B&H and notice their expected ship date has steadily pushed to the right. Was mid-November, then November 29, now December 14. Does anyone know why the shipment is delayed, or is this normal for Zeiss? This is my first time pre-ordering a Zeiss lens. Thanks.

Hello everyone. Switching over to Sony next week and getting the a7iii. I'd like to build a lens set that is both suitable for photography and cinematography. The ideal lens in that imaginary set would be exactly like this one: the Sony Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA Lens . It ticks every box for me: MF/AF switch, iris ring, Zeiss quality and even weather sealing. However the other FL's in that category do not have an iris ring or the ability to switch between MF/AF, which is unfortunate as this...
