Xiaomi Redmi Note 2
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 combines a very attractive price point with more than respectable technical specifications. At approximately $129 for its unlocked base model with 16GB of storage the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes with a MediaTek Helio x10 system chip which is also used in HTC's top-end model One M9+, an $800 device. Other specs include a large 5.5-inch 1080p Full-HD display and a 13MP main camera with on-chip phase detection.
For approximately $155 you can bag yourself the Redmi Note 2 Prime which ups the processor speed from 2.0 to 2.2 GHz and doubles the on-board storage to 32GB. For volume shooter this might be the better option as the Note 2 does not come with a MicroSD-slot. The battery is removable though. The Xiaomi does not offer the 16 or 21MP sensor resolutions that are common on the current generation of high-end devices nor does it have an optical image stabilization system. However, given its price point it offers an awful lot of mobile device for the money, making it look like a very decent option for mobile photographers who prefer larger screens and are operating on a tight budget.
