Xiaomi Mi 5 Overview
The Mi 5 is the flagship in the Mi lineup and comes with a camera specification that, on paper, is almost (but not quite) on par with other high-end models announced at MWC 2016. A Sony IMX298 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor with phase detection is combined with an F2.0 aperture and a newly developed optical image stabilization system that can correct for motion on four axes, including up and down movements. The sensor also features Sony's deep trench isolation technology that reduces cross-talk between photosites and therefore noise. A 4MP camera can be found at the front.
Images can be viewed and composed on a 5.15" 1080p IPS display with very thin bezels on the side. Below the screen you'll find a physical home button which doubles as a fingerprint reader. Under the hood the Android Marshmallow OS is powered by by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and, depending on version, various amounts of storage and RAM. The basic model comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a CPU speed of 1.8 GHz. The 64GB version also has 3GB RAM and a processor that is clocked at 2.15 GHz. A Pro model adds another 1GB of RAM and ups the storage to 128GB. Power on all models is provided by a 3000 mAh battery.
In terms of design the Mi 5 leans heavily on the Mi Note and comes with a similarly curved back. The lower-specced standard versions come with a glass back while the Pro option will offers a ceramic back plate.
