I’m trying to figure out what lens to get next, and I’m going round in circles a bit because it’s one of those perennial “zoom vs prime” questions, so your advice and questions would be welcome! I think I have settled on the Voigtlander CV 15mm iii but I'd like to know if you think this is the right choice. I mainly shoot architecture, landscape and street scenes, all in combination with my family. The next lens will be crucial to shooting on our next family holiday in the summer, in Venice,...

Hi people, I have an unusual problem and was hoping someone could enlighten me. (I posted a different question related to this problem here: Do Voigtlander lenses need calibration? but have investigated a bit further since. I recently bought a nice, tidy Leica T. The vendor sent a Voigtlander 15/4.5 lens (2nd version, in M mount) with the camera for me to try. While I was impressed with the optical quality and liked the focal length on that sensor size, the lens in question was marked, had a...

I am using the Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 iii. I love its light weight and quality. Its really good for landscape, but sometimes not so easy for portrait pictures when I go travel. So now I'm considering the fe 16-35 f4, which is heavier but more versatile. So, what do you think? And if I buy the 16-35, would you recommend me to buy any prime lens? Now I have the 35mm f2.8 and batis 85 f1.8 and thinking that might sell both and buy the fe 55 1.8 Thank you.

critical mode on: I keep on reading that the Batis lenses are sooooo good with lots of contrast and detail and the AF is a must have feature - bla bla bla . . . critical mode off and let's check the facts: I am always keen on understanding the capabilities of the gear I use - yet I don't have (like most of you) access to all thinkable lenses on the market. Fortunately you can rent gear - I will post a lengthy comparison later after an intense test of the basis 18 but let me start with a...
I was on the verge of buying the Sony 16-35mm lens for landscape and other wide work (I have the 28mm Sony as my current widest option), but was just informed of the imminent availability of the Voigtlander in a dedicated E mount design. Can anyone help me decide if the slightly cheaper, but more compact 15mm f4.5 Voigtlander prime would be a better or worse choice than the larger, more expensive 16-35mm f4 Sony? In terms of size, the Voigtlander is definitely appealing and, for landscape...

I'm looking at the Voigtlander 15mm as I like to take landscape photos with sun starts/sun bursts and I've read that you can get incredible sun stars even wide open at 4.5. I know there was an issue with magenta cast on full frame bodies, but from what I've seen it's not noticeable on crop bodies. Does anyone have the V2 version of this lens on an A6000 and can you confirm? Are the sun stars as nice as they are on full frame bodies? The appeal of the V2 is the size and price as I plan to only...
Hello internet. I am thinking about selling my canon gear for an X Pro 1 with 35/1.4 and 15/4.5. I was just wondering if the standard ovf/evf could be used with the Voigtlander 15, since the 18mm framelines seem to have a fair bit of room around them? I am planning on scale focusing this lense. Thank you very much!
