I realize that this is a bit of a long shot, but is anyone aware of an easy / inexpensive fix for a Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 USD that won't auto-focus? I went out to shoot my younger daughter's softball game this afternoon with it and my A580, and I could not make it auto-focus. I tried the AF switch on the lens, the AF switch on the camera, turning the camera off and on, dismounting and remounting the lens, and using CDAF in live view mode. Upon returning home, I tried my Sony DT 16-50mm...

Dear friends, I have read the forum for a few weeks now, trying to get the best option for my new equip, and I have some doubts that I hope you can help me with them (I also hope to be in the right part of the forum). The body is easy, I choose Sony Alpha a6400. I am a wildlife and birdwatching enthusiast, and I think that it a very good option (I know that it is even more important the lense). 4k, sealed and phase-detection points were my points with it. Now, the problem that I have....

How fast does the A6500 focus A-mount SSM lenses with the LA-EA3? How does this combination's focus speed compare to their focusing speed on A-mount cameras (especially my A580)? How does this combination's focus speed compare to native E-mount lenses' focus speed? In case it matters, the two lenses I'm most interested in are the DT 16-50mm f/2.8 SSM and the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di USD. Background: my trusty A580 started showing mechanical problems today. If I have to replace it, it...

Hi, I'm just starting out and looking for recomendations for filters. I have just got a Tamron SP 70-300 USD lens for my a58 and am looking for a filter to protect it. The filter should be clear (i.e. not darken the images) as it's for protection of the lens. I've been looking at Hoya UV filters.. does a UV filter darken the image at all? Thanks, Dave P.S. the Tamaron has a 62mm filter thread if that helps.

First time asking a question, but always looking here for answers.  I know this question is subjective, just want a second opinion. I have the opportunity to buy a Sony 70-400 G lens from my buddy for $1200.US. I know it is a great lens. But, it's $1200. I have heard great things about the Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di USD and I can buy that new on sale for 350.00. I have a 70-200 2.8 but I want to do a lot more wildlife Photography and not the sit in my back yard and take photos at the...

Anyone tried this combination? If so, what sort of ISO would I need to work it in weddings and receptions? It's on sale for $449.00 with a $100 rebate (from Tamron not some other company that specializes in taking as long as possible to give you the rebate). Thanks
