When I purchased my D780, the 24-120 lens that Nikon typically bundles with the camera was just a bit less on the long end than I wanted. In looking at the available lenses, the Tamron 35-150 stood out. I was moving from a D7200, so the full frame 35mm (vs. 24mm) was less of a concern. The f2.8-4.0 was a great selling point for a lens with this much zoom.  It's also compatible with the Tap-In console, which B&H included with my purchase. The lens handles well and is very sharp. I wanted a lens to use for both video on my Z6 as well as people photography - I do headshots, 1/2 body and full body shots for actors, models and executives. The Nikon 24-120 VR F4 I had was actually a pretty good kit lens but a little weak at 120mm. I prefer to shoot headshots in the 135-200mm range. Curious, I thought I'd try out the Tamron 35-150. Nice lens, AF pretty good, images are sharp detailed and contrasty just like Tamron lens are, occasional AF will hunt, but that said most lens does in trickylight/subjects. Overall very pleased.

I've only had this lens for a couple of days. I did not have an autofocus zoom that covered the "normal" range, and I needed one for an upcoming event. I believe this Tamron will do nicely. I wasn't interested in such a lens in the past, probably because there weren't many of them. Now I have this lens from Tamron for half a year and sometimes its a tough decision what lenses will be mounted on my D750, this one or Tamron 24-70/2.8 G2. The G2 is much better build, but I find that for casual use the 35-150 is much more flexible. For casual portraits and when I don't want to carry much weight, it's a excellent combination of features, performance and price. If I go to shoot an ...
