Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD G2 User Reviews

Announced Jun 30, 2017 •
Canon EF, Nikon F (FX) | A032

Bought it used. It needs tuning with tab-in console. It's super sharp in 24-50 range, corner to corner. 70/2.8 is good only, the corner sharpness is almost the same as the center. I think that's why its center sharpness is not up to my expectation, but after some PP it's pretty sharp. Stopping down to F/4 improve a bit but still not super sharp. I used some G1 copies. G2 feel like the same as G1 in respect for 70/2.8 center sharpness. But G1 corner is much worse than G2. Totally it's an ...

Got one of these a few weeks ago and have been able to shoot several events with it. Unlike some other reviews, I found the AF to be very good across the range out of the box. The VC is AMAZING and I couldn't be happier with the sharpness and the overall performance of the lens. BUT... (isn't there always something?) I have found shooting outdoor events the bokeh is a bit on the harsh side. I haven't tried turning off the VC outdoors in decent light to see if it might be introducing this? I ...

I had been using the Canon 24-105 L lens on my EOS 5D Mk III but I have had quite a lot of "Barrel" distortion issues. I decided to try the Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 G2 Lens as I needed the image stabilizer which the Canon didn't have and the Tamron was cheaper. What can I say. The lens is great and I am very pleased and I will be looking at other Tamron lenses in the future.

On my D810 I had all Nikon lenses. When I upgraded to my D850 I switched to the G2 lenses. I think the Tamron lenses (also have the 70-200 G2) are sharper then the Nikons. I did not do technical evaluations, just an overall satisfaction with the finished images.

I was using old version of the lens. I have changed with this. This is sharper then old one. I didn't need focus fine tune adjustment. Heavy. Only I didn't like VC control button location on the lens. Be careful when using accidently your finger touch it and disable. It could be same location like 70-200 f/4 new lens.

First, let me say where I've come from with this lens.   I owned the original G1 version a couple times and liked it in general.   I have also owned and enjoyed the Canon 24-105 f4L is version 1.   I have not owned the Canon 24-70 f2.8L mark ii, so I won't be able to compare it to that. Build - The build quality of this lens is very nice and a substantial improvement over the g1.   It feels much more tightly put together and actually feels more premium than the 24-105L.   The zoom ring is ...

It's fast, not as fast as I'd like. I wish they could make a zoom of this quality that is a 1.2 or 1.8 that doesn't weigh a ton. But this is the best of all worlds, for now, so this is my go to lens of choice. I do a lot of traveling on my big bike and with space at a premium, it was cumbersome to lug around 3 cameras so I started looking into a zoom lens that would fit what I needed. Nikon, Sigma and Tamron all fit what I needed so now it came down to features and cost. Fast 2.8, check, they ...

You can pay more but you will not get a better Lens. As my so called General Lens its the one I use more then another. At wide open its stellar. Stopped down to about 5.6 it has razor like edges. Also the weather sealing is a gem. I often shoot in mist and situations by the ocean and its never let me down. Even got caught out in the rain with no issues. Normally I'm not impressed  with the stabilization but Tamron sure have gotten this down to a Art. Since i print my own images and often at ...
