Just a quick review of the titled lens. Overall, I am pretty happy with this lens. Bought it about a year ago for about $150. Shortly after I bought the lens, I came across a good deal on the Canon 17-40 f/4L, and used it a lot (but was disappointed by its soft corners). Ended up selling the 17-40 L, and am saving up for the 16-35 f/4 L. I had actually forgotten about this lens, had it tucked away in a cabinet for a long while. I purchased this lens for use with a Nikon F4S and D200.  The UV and polarizer filters set me back over $200.  As wide angle lens it has served me well producing nice prints up 13 x 19 of Yellowstone.  I have not had the opportunity to compare this lens to Nikon's 17-35 with similar subjects. At a Tamron seminar I viewed some other photographers work with this lens with admiration. There certainly has to be a significant reason for Nikons price and would like to view other photographers ...
