I purchased this lens for use with a Nikon F4S and D200. The UV and polarizer filters set me back over $200. As wide angle lens it has served me well producing nice prints up 13 x 19 of Yellowstone. I have not had the opportunity to compare this lens to Nikon's 17-35 with similar subjects. At a Tamron seminar I viewed some other photographers work with this lens with admiration.
