Manufacturer description: The Tamron SP 15-30mm F2.8 Di VC USD G2 (second generation) full-frame lens incorporates an XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) lens element, as well as multiple LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to reduce distortion and lateral chromatic aberrations. A newly developed AX (Anti-reflection eXpand) Coating has been applied to reduce ghosting and flare. A "vastly improved" fluorine coating keeps water and oil off of the front elements, and the lens is sealed against moisture.
The 15-30 has an improved Vibration Correction system that reduces shake by up to 4.5 stops. Autofocus performance has also refined thanks to a Dual Micro-Processing Unit and new algorithms. As with the G1 model, the lens has a minimum focus distance of 28cm (11") and a magnification of 0.2x. The Canon version supports rear gel filters.
