So I am pondering selling my a99 and switching to mirrorless, most likely the a7III. I already have the 6500 for my backup and I would like to be totally mirrorless. I have sold lots of stuff before, but not for a couple years and I want to make sure there is not a method out there that I am forgetting. Usually I have sold on Amazon, but sometimes after the sellers fees and the pittance they allow for shipping...I don't know. I don't know how I feel about selling something high value like...
I was shooting a wedding and like my normal routine I show the clients a view of the screen to see the shot taken and confirm we are all on the same track of goals. Midway through this wedding event, my camera (Sony a99 SLT) started displaying a screen with a notice that the preview was not available. However, after a shot was complete, I would display the image on the screen and my client seen the image as well. However, after that original viewing, the image was no longer viewable on the...
I'm thinking long term in upgrade paths to my small business. I've started doing small weddings and covering performing arts events and I've really been struggling to keep up with the lack of physical controls, and moreover af-speed of my aging NEX-6. Investment costs in this case are important. From a quick browse of trending prices, it seems I can get a used A7RII for approximately $1700. The trending price for a used a99 seems to be around $1000. In investment costs, this difference is...
Hi, I am using Sony A99 and want a budget wide angle for it. I used Rokinon 14mm before sale it because its very ultra wide for me. My mind stuck finally on these 2 lenses. Minolta 20mm 2.8, I find its good wide angle not so much ultra wide but 20mm would be enough for me. also 2.8 would be better for low light. I dont know about the image quality from this lens. another, Tokina 20-35 2.8, I find this lens is well build also i have option from 20-24-28-35mm in one zoom lens. which one you...
Some legacy Minolta A Mount lenses (either from Minolta or third party) suffer from the lack of anti-reflective coating on the rear lens element facing the sensor as follows: Caused by the light bouncing off the imaging sensor to the lens and back to the sensor, a 'hot spot', a brightened picture center can result. Visibility of this depends on the aperture used. When shooting film, such anti-reflective coating isn't needed as film is much less reflective as the rather 'shiny' digital imaging...
Hi! I've had an agonizing month that was topped off by receiving a defect a57 this Friday. After getting my money back from the seller (they accepted without argument after seeing my pictures), I now maybe have to buy another camera. This is when that "Mr Creosote" feeling sets in of "...just a tiiiiiiiny little", those of You who have seen the movie know what I mean....eventually You blow up. So, in my previous thread the overwhelming repsonse was that, YES, it is worth it to pay $380 for an...
I have read all DPR reviews about the a57, a65 and a77Mk1. The a55 is also good but the a57 is better in everything so I don't consider it. GPS is nice but I have a separate logger. What strikes me is that all cameras get a gold reward but the reviewers seem most happy with the a57. 16MP is fine for me, I have both a99 and NEX-6 and really the difference is not that great. But the a57 get top remarks for low noise and fast AF. Also operation seems more snappy and the buffer is L-A-R-G-E and...
Like the title says, which lenses give me fast tracking AF. I have lots of difficulty getting fast moving objects in focus even when shooting S with 1/500th. Like AF not nailing a subject's eyes. And I feel that face recognition slows AF down a bit. Now, I have tried Minolta AF 35-105 OLD, 24-105 and 50 1.4, these are all screwdriver lenses. Can someone experienced in more recent glass tell me which gains I get with modern SSM lenses? And which lenses are recommended? Good tracking is key,...
