Hi guys, hope someone would shed some light on a problem I'm having. So this is what I do: I mount a flash or a trigger atop the camera I spot meter for a window or bright sky, turning the foreground including my subject darker I press the AEL to lock the exposure I recompose to focus on my subject while the exposure is locked I take the shot. The flash will the then take care of lighting my subject in the foreground. That was the case with my A99 and all other Sonys Except with my...
It has been really difficult to figure out which features of the Promote Control system can be used with the Alpha A99. The website site says it will work, while email customer support says "maybe, probably not". So far all I can get it to do is function as a simple interferometer. Has anyone out there been successful in getting bulb ramping to work with this camera? I have the appropriate cable, latest firmware, etc. Thanks...
Hello all, The AF is not working any more on my Sony A99V. It hunts between 0 and infinite and never focuses. It was working ok yesterday. I have tried with differents lenses and it doesn't work with any of them. I have also tried my lenses with my A700 and they all focus ok and fast. I have reinitialised the A99V and it still doesn't focus. I have tried all AF modes to no avail. Is there anything else I can check before sending the camera for service ? Thanks for any response Philippe Boite
I have the A99M2 and Odin II, I can´t sync past 1/250, the picture get all black if I go faster. I have look every where in the camera for a setting to change with no luck. If I put the flash on the camera it will get sync down to 1/8000. I also have the A99, with that I have no problem to sync 1/8000 with the same set-up. Could someone point me to the right setting so I can get A99M2 to sync past 1/250 with the Odin? /Jan

Hey, Im curious about the weather sealing on the original a99. The camera has the microphones on top of the viewfinder housing and they are covered with a metal grill which is quite big and exposed to the elements, especially rain. Is this a weak spot? Seems like rain would go inside the microphones easily and damage the camera. Thanks
I shoot with the a99 and have always worked around not having wifi, however it would come in really handy from time to time. Has anyone tried a wifi SD card and whats your recommendations? Is there a decent user friendly way to transfer a pic or two on the go? Thank you for your help PS. Telling me to get a new camera is not an option LOL --RichAs you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never be pointing the wrong...
So I am pondering selling my a99 and switching to mirrorless, most likely the a7III. I already have the 6500 for my backup and I would like to be totally mirrorless. I have sold lots of stuff before, but not for a couple years and I want to make sure there is not a method out there that I am forgetting. Usually I have sold on Amazon, but sometimes after the sellers fees and the pittance they allow for shipping...I don't know. I don't know how I feel about selling something high value like...
I was shooting a wedding and like my normal routine I show the clients a view of the screen to see the shot taken and confirm we are all on the same track of goals. Midway through this wedding event, my camera (Sony a99 SLT) started displaying a screen with a notice that the preview was not available. However, after a shot was complete, I would display the image on the screen and my client seen the image as well. However, after that original viewing, the image was no longer viewable on the...
