A while back I posted a question about what flash system to buy. I have Sony cameras (Alpha mount, not E-mount), and a nice Minolta 5600HS(D) flash (Minolta's top-of-the-line). I'd like to get my flash off of the camera. My main camera is a Sony A99, but IU also have A77, A55, and A700. My initial use would be experimenting with portrait lighting at home. Later on, I'd like to be able to toss these somewhere at events and shoot as well, and generally, experiment with lighting. People...

I wrote about me dropping my A77 in Ireland and cracking the lens housing and the flash on the camera. It is being repaired right now. I need a strong strap that can be held cross body or my back, with easy access when shooting. I know someone posted about this kind of strap, a Peak Design Slide.  My question is, are there any other options I should look at.  I never want to go through this again $$$ and we travel a lot, so I want my camera available at all times, not in a bag. Thanks in...

I dropped my A77 with the sd card door open and broke it. I have received a replacement door but don't know how to take the front of the camera off to replace. Does anyone have a diagram or video that will help me out. Thanks much

I have an old Phottix Odin transmitter attached to an A7r ii with an adapter. On the other end is a Phottix receiver with an HVL F43AM flash (the older one, not the F43M). I can hit the test button on the Odin transmitter and it will fire the flash attached to the receiver. But with the A7Rii set to Fill Flash (I've also tried Wireless), the flash will not trigger. So it seems like the A7R ii isn't really connecting to the Odin transmitter. I bought the adapter to connect to my old A77 (which...

I am leaving for Safari (Kenya) in a month and I am trying to prepare the camera gear that I need. I currently own a Sony A7 and A6000 together with the SEL55FE18 and SAL70300G and LA-EA4 adapter (as well as a bunch of manual lenses, beercan and various E mount adapters). I plan on bringing the A7 with the 55mm (or maybe a 24mm manual wide-angle) for landscapes and wide shots and use the A6000 crop-factor to my advantage with the 70-300G lens for better reach. After reading a lot on different...

Hi all, recent convert to the A77ii from the A700 and mostly loving it, apart from having to adjust some of my lenses it seems - is there a standard adjustment for each lens I can refer to or do I need to do this for every lens where I see an issue? Every lens on my A700 which pretty much bang on, sharp, especially my 70-300G which is looking a bit of a dog on my A77ii. I want to shoot pictures, not charts, and certainly don't want to pay for some of the expensive focus adjustment...

I'd like to cheaply experiment with studio lighting. My goal isn't to shoot the world's best photos at this point, but simply to learn. I'd like to try broad and short lighting and similar, and get a better idea of how they feel. My current cameras are Sony A-mount (a99, a77). My flash is a Minolta 5600HS-D. That was Minolta's highest-end flash. It's TTL, zoom, quite powerful, and has very fast cycle times. I've been very happy with it, but I've only used it on-camera. I'd like to try 2-point...

Hello all, I'm wondering if any of you could answer this: is the AF speed of the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 macro  (old version) comparable to the Tokina 80-200mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO (gold ring version)? I have the latter, and I must admit that I'm seriously impressed. It tracks focus much better, and especially racks focus much faster than my Tamron 70-300 USD. The optical quality, however, isn't that convincing. It's killer stopped down to f/5.6, but I doubt it could sustain a TC, and the colors...

I am considering buying the A77. I am satisfied with the A700 but I want AF micro adjustment. Does the A77 show the 'Super Steady Shot scale' in the viewfinder? It helps me a lot to be steadier when hand holding.
