Looking to purchase an all around flash for my Sony A77ii primarily for travel and general photography. Looking at both Sony & third party flashes. Not looking to spend a wallet-full (< $200) but would like one that is compatible with both my A77 & and my A6300, if that's available. I've been researching Nissin, Godox, Metz and a few others. Sony prices are up there compared to some apparently quality third party options. So many options, so many choices and yes, I understand use will...
I have a studio flash system that can be triggered with a flash. Some cameras can set the flash manually. Every Nikon slr I have tried from the cheap old D40 can do this, Some Canons like the Canon 60D, but not the beginner ones, and my old Minolta 7Hi can also set the flash manually. I then typically set the flash to 1/32 or 1/64 or 1/124 so that it would trigger the studio flashes without lighting up the person. In the menu of these cameras you will find three options for flash: ADI, TTL...
Hello everyone! I’m a student with one year to go at a military academy. Predictably I’m not the richest bloke out there but I’ve done some part time work during the summer and have some money saved up for a new camera purchase. I’m by no means a pro, I don’t make any money from my work. I currently own two film cameras and a Sony A77 DSLR with a two zoom lenses. I started with digital, but I’m quite fond of the older film bodies with their dials, knobs and aperture rings. I’ve really been...
Hello everyone. I'm new to this site but not photography. I've done a lot of searching so far but haven't found the thread that convinces me yet so I'm sorry if I'm rehashing stuff that has been addressed. I am a casual shooter for the past 15 years. I started with a Minolta Maxxum 7 in 2002 and then transitioned to a Maxxum 7D when digital began to take over. In 2012, I wanted to update my capabilities and picked up a Sony Alpha 700. Seems I've been following along the lines of...

Hi all, Glad to finally register here after reading so many google hits from this community. I started photography with an A57 and a bunch of the top minolta picks for price and performance. 70-210, 50, 28, 28-105 etc. I know nothing else about any other type of cameras or lenses. My A57 is in a wheelchair and almost dead so I moved up to the A77ii which made great sense due to the lens compatibility. Now my A77ii is making funny noises when shooting bracketed 2.0EV3 I have actually managed...

Out shooting today and all info on the rear screen started shifting back and forth pretty fast. Took battery out for a couple of minutes and removed the lens and remounted it but still has the jitters. Look thru the view finder and that is fine. Can someone please help me with this. Thanks.
I just bought a used A77 with a year's warranty. The camera is in excellent working order. Body in great condition, only concern was slight delamination to the screen. I was delighted with the deal I got and the camera's performance. Imagine my surprise when I checked the shutter count and the number of actuations is 140302! I read somewhere these shutters are reasonably reliable up to 150,000 actuations, so I'm unsure whether to return the camera while in the return window. So my question to...
