TL;DR : If I want to do some distance shooting (air planes approaching at airport, a full moon, etc) will I ultimately be better off (in regard to final Image Quality) with a small sensor super zoom more capable of reaching these objects (50x, 1200mm equiv), or an APS-C mirrorless with the longest reaching lens being 55-210mm, and having to rely on things like Sony's "clear image 2x zoom" to at least bring me up to 630mm equivalent, or hope that a 100% crop of a much smaller subject from the...
The auto focus on my failthful NEX-C3 stopped working today in all modes except 'Intelligent Auto'. The small green light at the bottom right of the sceen has curved lines around it as it tries to focus but keeps flashing and no focus confirmation double beep, the picture on the rear screen keeps hunting with the shutter half pressed. The auto focus works when set to DMF. I still have V.01 firmware, do you think an update might help?
Hi, I own old Sony NEX-C3. Short time used kit pancake Sony E 16/2.8. I was not satisfied, compared to legacy MF lenses, so I sell it. Now I'm stacked with Minolta Rokkor MF lenses (135mm/3.5, 50mm/1.4, 50mm/1.7, 30-70mm/3.5, 30-70mm/3.5 macro, 28mm/2.8) and one Industar 28/2.8 pancake. The problem is, my wife is not able hold focus on MF lenses, so pictures always bluried. Yesterday I take C3 to Sony Centrum and take a few pictures with Sony E 16-50mm F/3.5-5.6 OSS PZ (SEL-1650). Pros: +...

I have a nexc3 with the kit lens and the sel5018 and was looking forward to the a6000 for its fast focus speed. But some of the things people are talking about here have me unsure. But I don't even understand the points people are making: Some people are saying that the lenses for nex cameras will not be able to resolve the amount of detail due to the megapixels in the a6000. And I think if I understand correctly the NEX-7 also had this problem? I don't even understand what this means and how...

Hey guys, Looking for your recommendations for an upgrade to an entry- or mid-level dSLR / mirrorless that I'll mostly be using for the following: Shooting pictures of the family (I have young, but growing kids, so I'd have the camera at family dinners/reunions, sports events and musical performances) Motorcycling trips. I've been known to go out in groups, ride ahead of the group a few minutes, and take shots of them as they come by me on the road. I use a GoPro (Hero 3 Black) to capture...
Just curious how you wear your cameras. I have a NEX-7 with Zeiss 24mm and it's kind of front-heavy. If I wear it with the strap across my chest having the camera at my side "up-side-down/top against body" it stays snug to my side/back but is far from ready to shoot with. When I had the Fuji X100 I didn't have to mess around as it was hanging across my chest. I just had to lift it to my eye and shoot. Likewise when having the NEX-C3, the strap and strap lugs made the camera hang really...

Hi, I know, there have been numerous threads about A7 already, but hey they are the hot topic still today and this is a Sony gear forum so we cannot really cry about it either... I currently own A55 with couple of lenses but most importantly the DT16-50/f2.8. Then also a NEX-C3 with kit lens as well as a few MF Rokkors. I love both combos. I love the versatility of the A55 with the zoom lens for landscape, city sightseeing, indoor photography, etc. I also love the fast manual primes with the...

Basically what the title says. I want to know if I can use my old AI-S lenses (for example, the 24 mm F2.8 or 105 F2.5) on the A7/7r. I currently have a NEX-C3 and have been using the lenses with an e-mount adapter. Can I use the same adapters with the A7? Will there be significant vignetting?
