I have an NEX-5T camera. I have the 55-210mm kit zoom, which is probably what I need to be using to get a relatively closeup picture, although ideally I probably need something with much more zoom. I also have a Tiffen ND3.0 filter. Would it be safe to use this filter along with this lens (which anyway adds 6.3 f-stop at full zoom) without damaging the sensor? And I guess if I see the image on the LCD that shouldn't hurt my eyes right?I wonder if this combo of filter and the 6.3 f-stop of...
This is a question for everyone holding on a Nex camera, or one of the A5000, or A5100, hoping to get a good update, same small size camera. I went to Best Buy to see if I can convince myself to buy A5100, but no full touch screen. An A6000 and A6300 were on display, but I didn't care for larger size and more brick stile. I would get a 24 Mpx sensor like it's in A5100 and with an updated processor, but A5100 doesn't have full touch screen, the flip screen doesn't tilt down for overhead...
I have a lot of experience in photography, but am new to stereo imaging. I'd like the following in a stereo set up for occasional use: - zoom lens with effective focal length of at least 24-60mm (35mm equiv.) - be able to shoot two vertical images with lenses 3"-4" apart - raw files and full manual exposure control - total cost under $600 I don't think there's any existing stereo cameras or lenses that offer the focal lengths I need. The two D800s I own are too bulky to get closer than 5"...

Hi, I recently got a refurbished A5100, thanks to advice from some of you. I had a NEX-5T before and the image rotates automatically when I flip up the screen, but it doesn't appear to be doing this with the A5100, and I can't seem to find a separate setting. Everything remains upside-down. My understanding of expected behavior is that when I flip up the screen, the A5100 should orient everything so that I am looking at it right-side up (as if I were looking at the back of the camera with the...

Hi all, I lost my old camera and was looking what could I replace it with, when I saw a daily deal for a5100 on amazon.de. It was hard, but I resisted the urge and started reading. It turns out that a5100 is not that different from NEX-5T, and used I could get it much cheaper. So I'd like to check the facts here on the forum before jumping in and buying a 2nd hand NEX. From what I can tell the never alpha series has a more pixels and sensor and more focus points, and better video format...

So I recently got the Panasonic GX85, which I love so far (have been using a Sony Nex5T the past couple years and always wanted to try M4/3), and I also bought the Olympus 14-150mm f3.5-5.6 which I also really like so far. After buying that lens however, and I know, I know, I should have done more research beforehand, I saw some reviews that the panasonic's 14-140mm is considered one of the best, sharpest "super zooms". Do any of you have experience with both? I know that with the 14-140mm I...
Hey guys, I'm relatively new to full-frame photography. I came from a Sony NEX-5T with cropped sensor lenses, to an A7 (I know it's slightly old now) My lenses I am currently using: SEL5018 SEL30M35 SEL1855 and a Sigma 30mm prime lens (entry level for the NEX-5) Would it be better for me to upgrade my current NEX-5 lenses to the FE types? Would I get a noticable performance upgrade? Or would I be wasting cash for not very much difference? I'm currently using the cropped sensor mode on the A7...
I recently purchased a lens off of eBay for my Sony Nex-5T. In the description it was labeled as "suitable" for my camera and even had a 4 step process picture of them easily attaching the lens. When I got the lens the mount on my camera is clearly much to large for the lens and has no possibility of clicking in. Is there some sort of adapter I need to buy? It was listed on eBay as follow... 25mm F/1.8 HD Manual Focus Lens For Sony E-Mount NEX 5 6 A6300 A6000 A5100

Currently, I'm using nex5t with tamron 18-200mm superzoom and I've been quite satisfied with their results for a very long time. But recently, I've been exposed at lots of super sharp results from mighty A7 series, and now I'm looking for some improvement. I know superzooms are not suppose to do a super sharp job but I can't give up wide range zoom capability because I'm a believer of the one and the only camera. I always bring one superzoom camera when I'm going for a travel and never bring...
