My son (trained at some taxpayer expense as a navigator) has got the astrophotography bug.  But what he knows about photography you could write in BIG letters on a 1-inch sensor.  I just wonder if there is some book (he inherited the reading habit from the Murphy side of the family) that can tell him what to do without the whole silver nitrate 101 stuff. My own bitter experience of education (when dinosaurs were king of the world) is that you're only going to absorb if you are interested. ...

I have a question for the Z 50mm 1.2s users, expecially long time owners. How is the lens, what it lacks, what bothers you, do you feel it after prolonged use, how's the AF performance, keepers rate and so on . I'm a semi-pro. I photograph weddings and other private events, portraits and in studio; I can afford this lens without breaking the bank or my wife to say something... unpleasant. I would like you to show me your photographs taken with this lens. I want to see how it performs in real...

I have been noticing that if I leave the battery in my RX10-III for a couple of weeks it drains the battery completely.  This has never happened on my A6000 or my NEX-5.  They all use the same batteries.   The camera works fine if I put a new battery in and shoot for the day.  It's just when I leave it until the next time I go to use it that I find it has drained.  Has anyone else had this happen?  Any input would be helpful.

Here's a question on selection on AF points on Canon R6 (or R5): Can I somehow get them to behave similarly to older Canon DSLRs where I pick the point with the joystick? I started Photography on a 50d and moved from there to NEX-5, a 5D classic, and a 5d Mark II. One thing I love about all the Canon cameras is that I can use the Joystick to move the active AF point to the direction I point the joystick. Most commonly I would switch between the center and the left and right points based on...

I used a 5T for pictures, small as the original Nex-5, but I bought an A6100 last August, mainly for 24 MP, 4k and autofocus performance, known first hand from another A6100 at work, acquired couple of weeks after the release in October 2019. I already had a network attached storage, My Cloud by Western Digital, and no problems to see 5-6 MB size picture files from a remote location using the app. With a NAS the pictures can be seen on a smart tv, a tablet, or a phone from a remote...

Hi I have a YouTube channel and at the moment I either use my Samsung s20 ultra phone or my Panasonic fz80 bridge camera to record which has a very small sensor. I am not happy with the image quality of my videos. Although not terrible for some shots when I want to do close up product shots for the stuff I'm reviewing it is always so grainy and I feel looks unprofessional.  I dont make any money from youtube so my budget is tiny for a new camera. I have seen that I can get a Sony Nex5 for an...

Long time Sony cam user since nex5, currently A7II, bought an brand new A7C for my wife, SURPRISE no english menu. called Sony China, so far the Chinese technical stuffs in GZ Taikoo said there is nothing they can do about it. the Jd.com Dealer refused return cos the opened box and camera( like 6 shutters press and camera turn on for less than 10 mins). one of the Sony technical support suggest we should claim there is no warning sign of "regional languages support only" on the product page...

I still have two Nex-5T cameras and few lenses. I got A6100 and 90 macro for work. I just returned from a field trip where I used the A6100 and definitely it feels larger than 5T. I stayed for so long with 5T because of the small size and the full touch screen control that I want. On original Nex-5 that I had the four way wheel went bad after 10 months, and that's the main reason why I want full touch screen. I would add that in the smart phone era using the touch screen is a habit. OK, let's...

Hi All, First time poster here and I have had the Sony Nex-5t for way too many years. I am not a professional, but I love to take pictures of family, friends and to document our travels. My wife and I are expecting a baby next month so its time to upgrade! I have been going around in circles as to what to get. I am ruling out the a6600 because at that price point, I would rather spend the extra money to get the A7iii. My question is if I should get the a6400, a6500 or go for the A7ii. Is the...

A6600 from B&H offer poped out on one of my phone apps, but $1395 just for the camera? I still have two Nex-5T cameras and few lenses. I was looking to get one with 24 Mp, probably A6300. Sony forgot the average guy with not so much to spend for digital camera. A6000 the cheapest 24 Mp is how many years old now? Does the new firmware update improve enough?
