Hi all, I have Sony A5100 camera that came with SELP1650 kit lens. It has been good for my purposes and I've been really happy with it's quality and features. Last weekend I was at my studio and accidentally managed to tip over my camera stand / mount, resulting camera dropping into ground while camera was powered and lens extended. As I picked it from the floor, outer barrel was angled, so I powered the camera off and removed the lens. So lens was damaged in this incident. I replaced the...
I'm going to buy a camera to replace my nex3, for around ~1500 usd I can buy used 6d m1 (~2k shot) and 24 70 USM mark 1. Or Xt-30 and 18-55 2.8-4 brandnew, maybe plus a xf50. I already have an G7 mark 2 so size not really a problem, I'm not looking for a daily camera. I'm looking for a camera for event shooting. Mainly outdoor portrait but it should handles well with low and complicated lights... like in a car show. I want best possible image quality (with a bit of iphone app tweaking like...
My first (and best) experience with mirrorless DSLR was two early Sony models, the NEX-3 and the NEX-5. Both were rather small, but my favorite part of the design of the NEX-3 was its very thin design: only 1.5 inch thick (without lens), weighing 370g without a lens. This made it easy for me to pocket it when using pancake lenses or pinhole lenses, as it eventually took as little space as a non-removable lens camera such as the Panasonic DMC-LX7 for example, while providing the option to...

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. I have been using a Sony Nex3 camera, but have really outgrown it. I really want to step up my photography game, and after MUCH research have decided on the Nikon d750 with the Sigma art 24-105 lens. I currently do portraits of my kids, travel, and general photography, but want to get into landscape and more artistic photography. I have been saving up, and will get the camera and lens for Christmas. My question is when should I buy it? There is a great deal...
Broke out my Nex3 recently and decided to shoot in B&W. It appears that in Monochrome mode there is no option for manual control of shutter speed or aperture. I can, however, adjust Exposure Comp. Can anyone please clarify if this is correct, or am I missing something? Thank you.
I may be missing something here but I need to know. After upgrading from a NEX-3 to a NEX-7, I'm currently wading through all the settings, attempting to get to grips with things. My question is with regard to the focus points. On both cameras there are 25. I may sound like a complete newbie (which I am actually), but can I view all these points on screen simultaneously? At the moment (and on the NEX-3 also), there are 9, grouped in the centre of the screen. Am I completely misunderstanding...
I just got into photography and I have a good feeling that I'll be here for a while, so I know it's way to early to get a new camera since I already have a Nex-3. But I need something to save up for since I'm not really the wealthiest person on earth. I have some options down here, if you want to look over them and tell me your thoughts or you can put your own camera you think is good. P.S I love doing nature scenes as well as low light pictures.
