Hopefully this question has not be asked before. I searched the internet but I could not found an answer (at least not at answer to the point). Are the picture profiles only for movies? Or can they also be used for still images? I recently bought a sony A7ii and on the help pages it firstly states that it could only be used for movies but thereafter the PP2 setting is desribed as being for still images. https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1450/v1/en/contents/TP0000435736.html PP2:Example setting...

Hi, Any other A7 iii owners notice that their front control dial sometimes jumps two settings with one click? Happens regardless of mode, and also when reviewing images or moving through menu items: one click and it skips forward or backwards two. Doesn't happen all of the time, but when it does it tends to do it a fair bit, and is annoying.  Cheers.

New to birding with a new A7 III, wondering what lenses people recommend for this purpose. I have the Sony 24-105 F4 and love it but it's too short. Specifically, I'm wondering if the 70-200 2.8 with the 1.4x or 2x teleconverter would be better or worse than the 100-400 4.5-5.6 on the long end for shooting birds in flight. I've heard the image quality is similar. Assuming that is true, I wonder if the 70-200 with teleconverter is still fast enough for the AF-C. Thanks.

I am really torn between what route to take to upgrade my current camera. I currently have a M43 Panasonic G6. I did have a few lenses with it, but have sold most now with the intention of upgrading to FF. In fairness, at base and low ISO, with reasonable lighting the G6 is actually/probably perfectly adequate for my needs. My photography is hobby only, and travel, landscape, family, a bit of sports - a mixed bag. I rarely spend any time post processing. So mostly use OOC jpegs. I print,...

I bought a brand new A7 iii recently, and the mode dial has some play between the detentes/clicks - more than on any other camera i've had, including my A7. It's not loose, as such, in that it still takes some force to change between modes - it won't change by accident - and the clicks are nice and positive. It's just that there is a fair bit of rotational play in either direction before it comes up against any resistance, and it makes the dial feel a bit cheap - not inspiring me with...

While waiting for my first full frame mirrorless camera, I want to find out what's gonna be a good prime lens that's below $1000 (including the less expensive used lenses). I heard a lot of people don't like Sony's cheap native 50mm and most recommend the Sonnar 55mm, so this lens is at the top of my list. However, could manual focus Loxia 50mm be a fun alternative? It's a beautiful lens but I don't know if it's a good idea to buy a manual focus lens that costs the same as autofocus 55mm. I'm...

Looking for thoughts and tips on refining the ideal settings for camera raw sharpening for my A7iii and A7Riii.  When I shot Canon, I knew the defaults were wrong and had a colleague point me toward specific settings for Amount, Radius, Detail and Masking that helped bring out more in the image that I had seen before.  Has anyone come across settings they are pleased with thus far?

Hi all! I'm planning to upgrade my current Canon system to the Sony A7III later this month and have been looking into lenses. But more I look, more daunting it is. Every lens reviews I read recommend getting the GM or Zeiss lenses. But they are ridiculously expensive! So why are premium Sony lenses so ridiculously expensive even when compared to other systems' premium lenses? Will Sony FE get cheaper in the future? Perhaps when more of their lenses are in the hands of consumers or when other...

Hello everyone! I'm currently in the market to upgrade from my beloved, but aged NEX-6.  Currently where I'm living, the A7rIII goes for around 2790 USD (surprisingly), while the A7III goes for 2120 USD, both of them are bodies only.  I'm a hobbyist photographer, and looking to get into videography as well currently, also I cover some songs and shoot myself while I'm singing, and I might get into wedding photography if I get the chance. Of course, the money saved on the body will go into a...

I'm a huge Canon fanboy expecting a good mirrorless from them to buy as my second body (currently I use the 5D Mark IV) but with the release of the EOS R, my reaction was "C'mon Canon, this is late 2018" and even the M50 (APS-C mirrorless from Canon) seems more appealing to me. So here I am, willing to take a Sony A7something as my second body (with an adapter as I only own Canon L glass for now) but I don't know which one. From the A7RII what I like is the superior megapixel count and that...
