I snagged a Sony A7III at Bedford camera last month just in time for a trip to Europe and got lucky with a 24-105mm from B&H the same day.  Upon return from Europe I noticed that there are a few severe dust spots on the sensor and on a test image I did today I noticed quite a few more faint ones.  I put the lens on immediately, have not removed it and have gone through the self cleaning process a couple of times with no result.  I can't explain why a brand new camera would have so many dust...

Is it possible to customize the front and back dials on the Sony A7 iii to something other than Aperture/Shutter speed?  I'd like to set the front dial to shutter speed, back to ISO, and circular dial to aperture. I know it's possible to set the circular dial to ISO, but it's not my personal preference.

Is it possible to remove black vertical parentheses lines on A7 iii display?   I think they represent the Phase Detect Area markers... In previous models you could go to: Menu > Custom Settings > Phase Detect. Area > OffHowever with the new menu system it's nowhere to be found

Hi,  I am wondering if it makes sense to get the Fuji X-T2 with the 18-55 kit for $1499 or wait for the X-T3. I am upgrading form Canon and have been considering buying into either the Fuji or Sony system and wondering if this price is a good opportunity or if I would be better off waiting for the X-t3 (not sure what price point this will be at). About my usage: I am upgrading from the Canon t-4i + EF-S 18-55 kit lens + EF 75-300 lens and am set on the X-T2 because of its portability and...

Hi guys, I'm getting my Sony A7 III very soon. I'm thinking now about lenses and I have a budget of ~ 2000-2500 euros. I would like to photography landscape + Night-long exposure photography and video (training for work and other youtube technical presentation projects), I like sharpness as well :) So I was thinking about ONE versatile one with what I could do everything I need : Sony FE 24-70mm 2.8 GM. or two : 24-105mm f/4 G (versatile and an extra reach ?) + Sony 55mm Sonnar T 1.8 ZA(more...

With more manufacturers now include FE mount option to their newer lenses, including Sigma, Tamron, Samyang, and even Tokina, is it better to get the FE version or the Canon version and use the MC-11 or Metabones to Sony mirrorless camera? I've heard that there will be optical penalty using an adapter as opposed to using original FE mount. I've also heard focus speed penalty with adapter. Any truth to that? I'm a Canon user but am interested in the A7 III for an upcoming trip and just to get...

I bought an old 8mm Kern Paillard lens (13mm 0.9) and bought an NEX mount to D mount and then a D mount to C mount to fit on a Sony alpha A7 III base. It all fits together well. The only thing is, I can't remotely focus it. Any thought as to anything I'm doing wrong? I'm pretty sure the lens isn't missing any elements. I know this lenses are meant to be super sharp but I'm not even able to make out basic outlines of objects.

I have been using a Sony A7 for a very long time. On an upcoming trip, I wanted to shoot with two bodies, so I am renting an A7 III which apparently has better low noise performance and no STAR eater problem. (unlike the A7R) Could you provide me suggestions and tips, esp whats different form the A7. I will be using "Time Lapse" App. does it allow me to do > 30s exposures?  I am on a 12mm lens with this body (Rented)  --TanveerMy galleries - http://tanveer.smugmug.com,My photography page on...

I realize this is probably a commonly asked question, but I have the opportunity to pick up an a7ii for approx. $950USD, compared to a new a7iii for approx. $1600 - a pretty good offer through a local retailer. Anyway, wondering if anyone who has upgraded, or who is very familiar with the two cameras, might be able to give me their thoughts here. Please note I'm (i) familiar with the technical differences, (ii) predominately going to use the camera for landscape, travel & architecture...
