This lens is just plain amazing I won’t be getting any of the 85’s as it so close of a focus and I found that I am not a 70-200 user so my portrait lens is just this one Macro capabilities is amazing plus it has a 1:1 magnification ratio so in addition to all of that... this lens is corner to corner sharp... simply in love

Outstanding color, contrast, and sharpness. Large and heavy, but the pro. built quality, the great (0.29m) 1-1 working distance and fantastic OSS, makes it to one of the “easy to working with”  for macro or portrait choices. UBL

I did have them all, Canon, Nikon, and Zeiss ... But, T he Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 G OSS Macro is an exception. At least in image quality department and that is always in my book priory. This lens feels good, the focusing is extremely accurate and overall, working with the lens is a pleasure. I am using this lens on A7R and A7RII and also on my A6000 . The best result I am getting is in my studio on both A7r's with Elinchrom strobes. Processing images in CaptureOne v9.x is a delightful pleasure ...

Hard to fault this lens, a great macro and long prime.

I've been doing a lot of online store listing shots with legacy macros. My old Leitz 60mm and 100mm lenses are lovely, but I had a feeling the modern dedicated lens might benefit the shooting flow. And I was right. Not just shooting, though - the greater contrast, flare resistance and more vivid colors is making post processing noticeably easier. I really like the BOKEH and out of focus transition with this lens. One user felt the effect to be somewhat jarring, as if someone did a background ...

Else where, a user complained about the function of the manual-focus refinement function:  "Then it auto magnifies, as if this helps anything?" This auto-magnification is a CAMERA menu setting: MENU -> Cogwheel -> 1 -> MF Assist -> OFF to get rid of the annoying auto-magnification. This feature is useful doing still life with a tripod, not otherwise, and users should turn it off by default. (This menu item's usefulness seems, to me, not obvious from the title -- Auto-Mag would be preferable ...

As I have a set of wide angle M mount lenses and the 55mm I decided one more was need to round out the Sony A7ii and a portrait lens with OSS was in my sights. The macro capability was a bonus. Inspired by the DXOMark score for this I was confident that this lens would be money well spent, I was not mistaken. Both the 55mm and 90mm deserve their score over at DXO. Theses two together with the Otus pair round out the top four lens they have tested. This 90mm is a large and heavy (relatively) ...

I am not spoilt by modern lenses since I usually use MF m-mount lenses, some new and some old. The Sony FE 90 mm was interesting to me because I lacked that length and wanted to have a stabilized lens since the A7R is very demanding. I do mainly portrait, fashion, performance. I tried this lens today at the studio and it felt wonderful. The switch between AF and MF is so easy and nice. The focus by wire is very responsive and good. I am not used to AF-lenses so the speed impressed me. Love it. ...
