How well does the Sony FE 90mm macro lens perform with Real-time Tracking? I'm interested in buying a portrait lens, though I'm curious about exploring macro photography too while Covid restrictions are being put in place again. I'm also thinking of taking on product photography work in future once I gain some experience. From reviews I've read, the Sony 90mm macro is a bit slow to focus as it's really intended for macro rather than portraiture, though I wonder if Sony's newer real-time...
Hello everyone, Hope you are well and safe. I am thinking of getting the Sony A7R III / IV (Not decided yet), and would like to get one of the following lenses: 1. Sony 90mm Macro G OSS 2. Zeiss Batis 85mm F1.8 I am wondering which of these lenses would be better for portraits. F1.8 and F2.8 is not a deciding factor for me, but I'm more after the rendering and the color. Sharpness also matters too. I leaning towards the A7R IV more, so the resolving power matters too. Thank you in advance for...
I’ve looked at many lens recently and waited for some others. I have a a9 and do general photography (more portraits than other things). I have the sigma 24-70 dg dn, the sigma 100-400 on adapter and zeiss 35 and 55. I like pseudo macro with the 100-400. I also often think that 70 is not long enough. So I’ve looked at the possibilities. I’m hesitating between the sony 90mm which seems pretty much a cross of my need without going in focal I already own. I’m also very tempted by the upcoming...
So I’ve been messing about with the lens and looking for clarification on the below... it seems there is a minimum distance that the lens can AF.. BUT it seems you can MF a lot closer... Is this correct or am I doing something wrong with the AF... basically the difference between a macro and a super macro I guess ?
Hey guys, I have a 90mm G OSS lens from Sony. I'm using a Sony A6000 body with the lens and haven't ever had issues with the setup. About a week ago I picked up the camera after about a month or so sitting in a pelican case and come to find out the lens wont autofocus. Sliding the manual/auto focus ring into auto and attempting to focus seems to cause a "white" flicker on the screen but the focus wont actually work. Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on? Manual focus works just fine,...
Hello guys, I would like to try macro photography but I completely newbie in this field. I would like to know about your personal experience and thoughts. First I am looking for a lens for Sony a7III. I'm considering: Sony 90 2.8 Macro all looks cool but I worrying about not circular bokeh that someone reported and something that bothers me :) Sigma 70 Art looks cool too but focus distance is significantly smaller, and noisy AF that may spook wild insects. Canon 100 2.8L I already have an...

Hi everyone, First I'd like to specify that I'm just an amateur, I'm not really specialized in anything, I liked just about everything new I tried in photography so far so am a bit all over the place.I currently own a Sony 85 f1.8 which I got... because I was waiting on availibility on other lenses and I love it but I found out that even for portrait I rarely use it full open.I'm shopping for a macro lens but don't want to spend 1200€ on the Sony FE 90 so I read quite a few articles on the...
I have a Sony A7II with the FE 90mm F2.8 lens. Recently the lens has started zooming whenever I manual focus, if that makes any sense(see pictures). I can't seem to figure out why exactly this is happening, and the camera shop I visited was no help. The pictures I've uploaded where all taken on a tri-pod, the only difference between the three is the focus at which they were taken. In both of the out of focus pictures the knob takes up a fair bit more/less of the frame. Any help or advice...
