Hi everyone, I just got an 85mm 1.4 GM tonight and have been testing the lens for a couple of hours. During my testing I noticed out of the blue that the lens was making quite obvious clicking noises when turning the camera on and off. This occurred out of the blue with no obvious cause until I realized it was the aperture mechanism. Basically like most other sony lenses the 85mm GM stops down when the camera powers down, and during that and power up where rapid changes in aperture size occur...

Due to the many positive reviews, I purchased the FE 85mm f.18 lens not long ago to pair with my APS-C NEX-5N until I upgrade to full frame. I figured it would be a smart investment to get a full frame lens which mounts on my APS-C camera for the time being until I can use it later on with full frame once I upgrade. I was very happy with the purchase until I unexpectedly found lots of articles about the striping issue. It appears that this problem exhibits itself the most on the A7 III (which...

I am shooting in AF-C and when I half-press shutter, there are vibrations/ micro-hunting/ shake on the camera body. The vibrations continue as long as I half-press, irrespective of shooting scenario (bright, low light, high contrast scene). Firmware on my a7r iii and 85 GM updated to the latest. I have face detect on. Focus area is Flexible Spot S/M. With the AF-S mode, there is initial hunting/ murmur on the lens and after it locks focus in the 0.5 seconds or so, the camera body is silent ie...
Hello everyone, Hope you are well. I was wondering if anyone here used both / have both and share their experience or share images from both? Ignoring PRICE / WEIGHT / Focal length, considering strictly image rendering, which one would you prefer? I'm trying to decide on the image rendering / characteristics first, not just the sharpness. Everything else is secondary. Please advise / share your experience. Have a great day. --website: http://www.mf-photography.comIG:...
Hi I intend to enter food photography business so I bought Sony A7 RIII (I will also use it for landscapes and macro sometimes). My plan is to buy: 1- General lens: my pick is Sony 24-105mm f/4 (I was thinking about 24-70 GM but found that extra one stop is not important for me, and the sharpness is about the same, also I will get this lens and prime one in the same price of the GM). 2- Macro lens: Sony 90mm as it is will be good for closeups. 3- Fancy one :) I am thinking about a very fast...

Hello, Looking to purchase the 85MM GM 1.4 for the A7II, I have read that the autofocus really hunts and is noisy. Although with the new firmwares past 3.2 this should be corrected. Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has experience using the Sony GM 85mm 1.4 on the a7II, and what their opinion is on the matter. Thanks!
Hello everyone, Hope you are well. I am a Nikon user since 2012, and after the release of A7r III, I wanted to switch to Sony. Sony does have a smaller lens lineup than Nikon, but it has all the ones I need. My usage are portraiture, and traveling. Next year I'm planning to do some big trips, and the weather will be well below -10C atleast, maybe more. It'll also be high altitude and I was just wondering if the A7 systems are properly covered for that. Operating manual says 0C as lowest, but...
