The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 'G Master' is a fast standard prime for the company's full-frame mirrorless system. It has 14 elements in 10 groups, including aspherical and 'XA' glass, along with Sony's 'Nano AR Coating II' to reduce ghosting and flare. The focus group is driven by two 'XD' linear motors.
The lens has an aperture ring which can be 'clicked' or 'de-clicked', depending on your use case. Its electronic manual focus ring is linear. The minimum focus distance is 27cm (10.6") and the max magnification is 0.23x. The lens is compact given its specs and weighs just 524 grams (1.2 lbs). Sony says that the lens is sealed against dust and moisture, and the front element has a fluorine coating to repel water and dust.

The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM is a fantastic option for photographers of all types who are looking for a high-quality, fast 35mm option for Sony E-mount. It's sharp wide-open, has beautifully smooth bokeh, and is built well but won't weigh you down. Some color fringing in challenging situations at wider apertures is the only significant knock against this versatile lens.
Good for: Environmental portraits, travel, documentary photography, events, landscape work.
Not so good for: Video shooters that need better control over focus breathing, and those photographers who want to travel as light as they possibly can.
