The Sony DT 55-200mm F4-5.6 SAM is a budget telephoto zoom lens designed for use on Sony's APS-C format SLT cameras. It covers an effective focal length range of roughly 80-300mm, making it an ideal 'next lens' for first-time SLT buyers who want more reach than they can get from the bundled kit zoom, without spending too much money. This lens features Sony's SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) focus motor, which is quick, but not silent, and does not allow full-time manual focusing.
