Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VII User Reviews

Announced Jul 25, 2019 •
20 megapixels | 3 screen | 24 – 200 mm (8.3×)

No other camera combines the lens range, IQ, and video capability in such a small package. My 5-star rating is based on this and not how it compares to larger cameras. In my opinion, this is the best all-around subcompact camera bar none.

Since there is a dearth of user reviews re: this amazing piece of tech, I thought I would add my 2 kopecks. There are times when I just want to throw a small compact or two in that great Peak Design 6L sling bag I have and not carry a bunch of lenses, multiple bodies, blah blah blah. Mostly thinking about overseas travel. Camera theft is on the rise, and outside of the obvious inconvenience of lugging around a backpack full of lenses and a couple of bodies around...well, u get where I am ...

I used it on a cruise vacation and both pictures and videos were pretty amazing. Even the stills that were clipped from videos. Videos of NY City at 4am as we were approaching home port were worth getting up for to say the least. The flexibility of controls is outstanding. BUT... did I make a mistake buying it? YES! Amazing camera, but too small for my fingers and my dexterity.  Not that I have oversized hands. I imagine this camera and its controls are way too small for almost anyone - ...

I normally pair the GM5 with a couple of small zooms which cover the 24-200 range. The Sony RX100 VII covers the same zoom range. The main advantages of the RX100 over the much older GM5 are: 1) It's a bit smaller 2) It's a bit lighter (about 300g, vs 430g for the GM5 twin-lens kit) 3) It covers the full zoom range without needing to change ...

I purchased this to replace the older Panasonic TZ100. This was a revelation and used when travelling with my wife who was always embarrassed if I had my "serious" cameras with me on holiday (over the years various Canons, Olympus EMI 2016-2019 and latterly the Sony A7R IV). I only mention that because I am a moderately serious amateur! The Sony RX100 VII is quite frankly superb and a massive step up from the Lumix (which was in its day excellent). It has a wider aperture than the old Lumix. ...
