I've used the RX100 mk3 for more than 2 years now. It's the camera I have with me in my daybag just in case I come across Something interesting. Tiny size, image quality comparable with a Nikon D300, fast lens, viewfinder (ok it's electronic but I can live with it). For a long time I was entirely satisfied. Recently I've been using the RX100 for more serious shooting when I'm touristing in a city and I don't want to carry around 5 kilos of DSLR gear. I've discovered a few drawbacks: 1. The ...

I'm an camera enthusiast for past 30 years.  I go to DP review extensively for camera purchase decisions.  Many thanks. Most important for me is excellent picture quality / versatility usually with person inside picture (sensor, lens f-stop, zoom lens, flash hot-shoe).  Second is ease of use (built-in flash, controls, responsiveness, full tilt screen) I've owned and used many SLR and for Canon - entry EOS, RX100 II, and now RX100 III. The RX100 line is a true break-through in it's 1" sensor ...

I've had this camera for a year or so and have built up a lot of use testing. My previous camera (which I still have) is a Canon G12. I was attracted to this SONY camera mainly for these reasons: 1. articulated display (like my G12) 2. electronic viewfinder (G12 has only a simple optical) 3. 24mm field of view (G12 is 28mm). Most of what I do is shoot indoor live music scenes. BTW, I have installed the latest SONY firmware. Use tested serious flaws, in order of irritation ... 1. The EVF ...

This camera best feature is the small size and the large sensor the only one inch sensor camera that fit in a trouser pocket. Image quality is acceptable I shoot a lot of landscape and I don't like the dynamic range of this camera it give noise in shadow and if you expose for shadow the highlight cant be recovered (HDR is a solution but much more post processing). I did barrow it to someone who never return it back and I'm not going to miss it :-x

This is a fine small camera with a terrific sensor and easy enough to use, BUT in my case, the camera had a reoccurring problem in that the lens cover/iris hung up and did not fully open. In less than 9 months it was back to Sony twice for the same problem. This IMHO is a design flaw with the MKIII version of this camera. Without this problem I would have rated the camera higher. I also felt the lens at WA setting was not nearly as sharp or distortion free as I would have liked. Its a good ...

My full, detailed review with sample images is below - http://davidcandlish.photography/reviews/sony-rx100m3-review Summarised conclusions - Conclusion Sony has produced a solid camera yet again. The RX100M3 is fun to use, can produce absolutley cracking images once you've learned how to get the best out of it and is small & light to boot. It has problems but as an enthusiast compact camera it's extremely capable. The compact market isn't as ripe for the taking as it was back when the RX100 ...

Great DPreview and User review and it brought me finally settled with the Sony RX100 iii and I am happy with it. Simple reason I chose the Sony RX100 iii is the features offering packed in a small and compact camera: - Image quality is very nice with a good dynamic range shown in my Jpeg files (Note: I owned Canon S110 and Canon 5D mark II before, and sold my Canon G7X not too long ago) - EVF viewfinder helps alot of my shot where I shot under bright sunlight. - Noise reduction handles well ...

I bought this camera purely for social situations.  For this reason, I only clicked the two categories below.  What makes it great for this: - The low light ability avoids the use of flash - Flexible screen is handy - Very few shots come out poorly - It is small The above 4 points justify the cost of the camera.  Walking into a party with a Canon 6D and a big flash, just was not cool.  However, this camera is a lot of fun. What I did not fully expect, is that this camera is actually better ...

Great camera but if it breaks, expect to spend several weeks and high shipping charges and multiple tries to get it fixed/replaced. Mine broke after 2-3 weeks and Sony's repair service has been extremely slow, expensive, and last-century in the way it is structured and operates (many poor souls on the frontline that have no authority, little access to information, and with varying ability to speak your language. It calls into question whether Sony can push the technology as they so admirably ...
