I'm just asking if some of you had Sony compact HX or RX etc, which after few months or years the buttons of the settings got like crazy? I had hx30, hx50 and also hx99 that happened to me, I could not select a setting because it was changing all the time by itself... Never happened with my hx90... I don't know if I was just not lucky and I got them from a bad batch....

I'm looking for a compact travel camera under $500, the more under the better, with a pretty good zoom. After MUCH research I narrowed it down to the Sony HX99. I love its very compact size, the zoom and other features. But now I can't find any for sale. Or I find a well used one for like $600(!). Has it been discontinued or is it just very popular?  Any suggestions on a reputable store that still has the HX99 in stock? Anyone on this forum have one for sale? This is my first post on this...

Does anyone have any helpful information on how to fix PlayMemories software? I know it works for some people. It hasn't worked on my main Windows PC for two or three years now. It locks up whenever I try to do certain essential functions like changing the folders that are loaded. I can get it unlocked by repeatedly hitting the escape key, but I cannot do any of several essential functions. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling. I've done my best to clean the trash its defective...

I’ve recently moved out of the city and found myself on walks and cycle rides where I’d like to capture birds and deer. Sample images of the SX740 at 40x look very blurry so I’m not concerned whether I go 30x or 40x but I have a G7X and find the zoom just can’t get close enough (200mm equivalent I think) which rules out the RX100 series, excellent as they are meant to be. I would appreciate help to differentiate these three cameras. I don’t want a bridge camera. I want something small that I...

My current cameras are Sony HX99 and Nikon D50.Looking for a new camera mostly for taking 4K 24(25)p and 30p videos of wildlife.Zoom from xx (not important) - to 1200-1400 mmPreferably not more than 800 grams.AF-C is very important for me for tracking animals (eyes). And I believe B700 doesn't have great AF-C (correct me if I am wrong). Other than that B700 on paper seems like a good camera for me. I really impressed how latest Canons focus on animal eyes!Thank you for any advice!

What is the minimum specification memory card I need to record XAVC S 4K video? With a Samsung U3 micro SD memory card in my Sony HX99, I get an error message trying to record 4K video. It says: "Cannot record in this recording setting. Either switch to a UHS-I U3 / UHS-II U3 compatible memory card or change the record setting." I assume the U3 card is a UHS-I U3 card, though I'm not certain. So there's some miscommunication somewhere. What do I do?

I've been considering the HX99 as a super zoom-capable camera that I can easily carry with me without adding much bulk, but the micro-USB port is holding me back. All of my other everyday gear is USB-C charged and I'd hate to break that streak.  Does anyone have an idea of whether Sony is planning to update that line with a USB-C port sometime soon? It seems like a growing industry trend but I haven't heard of anything specific about this product line.

Lockdowns preclude traveling these days, so I'm mainly shooting around the yard and woods nearby with my tiny HX80, but may upgrade it to the newer HX99 in hopes of better days ahead in 2021. Has anyone upgraded or bought the HX99? I'm looking for user experiences with the HX99, though I'm generally content with the "happy snaps" from the HX80.
